I made the mistake of using this "payment processor", first $200 went fine even though their conversion rate is garbage as many of my clients' banks block them (now I know the reason).

One week ago they froze all my funds there and asked for my documents on their chat, I sent my driver license and proof of address.

Chat person answers that they will not proceed until I send them my passport, I say that I don't have a passport and receive no answer after that.

Chat button disappeared on their interface and my balance there now shows $0.

I'm posting this here as I learnt about that site here and there are some users here using it, so here is the message: Stay far away from flutterwave, it's a petty scam company.

Sure it's not your business that lead to this?

Lol, is this some kind of a joke, you're joking, futterwave powers thousands of big companies in Africa and many other countries, in fact I use the and never had such experience, if they ask for documents then provide it, this payment processor has helped replace PayPal in many African countries where it's not supported

I used it to sell software on demand and, regardless of that, unless the business in question is something Illegal, it is no excuse for the company to take your money and ignore you.
It is the same thing people complain about Paypal's shitty treatment, at least they will pay you after 6 months. With Flutterwave they just take it and ignore you.

Not a joke, also how I'm going to provide a document that I don't have? Why I have to provide a passport? I have used my driver's license/address proof for all those online banks, payment processor etc and never had any issue, even with the dreaded Paypal.

Quite sure they aren't scam. there must be a valid reason for their actions. Try contacting them via official their official email

no idea what flutterwave is (never heard of it/them), but in all honesty, that guy has got a point. I mean, if a company asks me for my ID (which is a perfectly legal and common identifying document) and I provide them with the said personal ID and then asks for passport, as well something is fishy at this point. Especially when the guy said that he's got no passport (I haven't gotten one, either) and they immediately deny him any meaning of contact and then shortly afterwards empty his balance. To me this looks like a scam by any rule of the book

Honestly, I won't comment if I wasn't confident of the company..I've heard they're quite good.
You need to keep reaching out to them..
Might just be a "mixup"?
The owners can't be hard to get via email..CC them in every correspondence till you get a response.

I hope you guys defending them are right, I will give them a few days to see if they will pay.

Well I think you're joking, flutterwave's verify accounts upon opening them, and I verified my account with my national ID card.
The problem might come from you, the payment you received might be suspecius such that it requires your passport and not the locally issued id card, this thread is worthless, if they require you to provide something, then their must be a reason. You don't because of that come here to call them scam, atleast they didn't run away with your money, flutterwave powers Uber and many big companies in Africa

It's not about us defending them, it's what I use and never had any issue

Binance biggest crypto exchange site uses flutterwave, Doubt they will ruin their reputation for a few dollars.

Provide them the documents they asked for and stop being a jerk. I've been using their service for years now and I haven't heard of experienced anything like this.

I also don't believe any company would want to ruin their image for just $200. Don't be quick to label any company as a scam online.

Require passport to receive a payment? This is ridiculous and sounds like an excuse for a scam as their last message was basically "give passport or we keep money".

I hope so, but even if they end up keeping the money it will not ruin their reputation. For example, you rarely if ever see those payment processors pull this off with big companies that have huge leverage, but if you do your search you will find several cases of them screwing up small sellers.

I can't provide something that I don't have, that's the issue.

I'm not surprise, PayPal don worse, and people call them scam, but they're, it's just the rules they've laid down to prevent thesane scam people call them
The purpose of ID verification on any site is to prevent scam, if there's is no such thing as scam, then there wouldn't be be Any KYC verification. I remember PayPal asking me to Provide my bank account statement and my credit card statement, I was supprised because my bank statement is my credit card statement. I the end, they blocked my account permanently with some funds in it because I Provided same statement for both

If this is a scam, all payment processors are scammers...when Stripe puts my accounts on rolling reserve, the chat becomes unavailable (at least in my case).

All processors always ask for documents, support is always unfriendly...Paypal is the biggest example of this

For everyone defending them on this thread: You were right, they have unlocked my balance and now it shows the correct amounts instead of $0.

This thread was an overreaction on my part because the support girl said she wouldn't proceed unless I sent a passport. After telling her I didn't have one twice and waiting a few days, she transferred the chat to another support person that solved it.

Flutterwave have issues, mainly with banks blocking payments to them, but they didn't scam me in the end.

EDIT

Not all good, see the exact message from the support guy I've just got:

Unfortunately, we will be unable to process the flagged settlements or verify your account because we are not operating in Brazil at this time, the funds may be reversed or kept in wallet for a period of 180 days. Should there be no dispute of chargeback raised within this period, it will be settled to you.

Just got the Paypal treatment for a bullshit excuse, they let me create an account from Brazil and receive payments, but when it is time to pay me, they say shit like this.

Final verdict: They're not scammers, but I definitely won't recommend them unless it's literally the only option you have. Just use Paypal if you can, the treatment is the same shit, but the service is much better (much more conversions).

Hello,

Did they ever payout your funds? I tried the exact same thing! First they let me create the account, verifies it and suddenly there is an issue where they need more documents. I provide them with all the asked documents, and they keep coming up with an excuse like the picture of the passport needs to be taken in another way, and shit like that. Then for a few weeks they completely shut down the account and removed all access. I regained access by mysterious ways and the balance is back.

But now they come with some shit excuse like you got, that they dont provide their services in Denmark. EVEN THOUGH THEY ALREADY VERIFIED THE ACCOUNT.

But, to the case, did you ever get your ledger balance?

They said 6 months, will see if I can get it now. This is a complete bullshit scam service avoid at all costs. Anyone defending them here is likely a shill.

"We let you create acc and receive payments, when it's time to withdraw we will come with a bullshit excuse to keep your money LOL"
