Wasn't a smooth life growing up.. Offering her this place to live for the rate she was given is already a discount in her wallet to what she is paying now... Plus she gets a beautiful view of the city

So you prefer your mother pay MORE rent to a different landlord rather than get a discount on rent from you? He isn't running a charity. He has to think of his children/spouse or future children/spouse too. He didn't force his mother to give birth to him, it was something she did without any input from him. He still wants to help her out, but he cannot afford to risk his own future to do so. It's nice if you are very rich and you can do that without risk to your future, but very few people are in that position to just buy your parents a nice condo for free.

As much as i dislike to talk about this (and things like this), thats a dogma, a childish and naive one at that. And things like close/familiar relationships shouldn't be stained by dogmas and "morals". Also, this "morals" is the next level of irritating, saying "its your mom" in a forum. Let me remind you that "culture" like this is prevalent on some countries/societies where parents murder their daughters in "honor killings", meaning for being the victim of a 3rd party. Dont want to go too far here but reading responses here en example was in order.

As i mentioned before, its as much a "privilege" as it is a responsibility. And there are a lot of "sh*t moms" and parents no matter how you put it and how you look at it, I ensure you and it should be obvious, as long as you are an adult. As i said, the question itself is improper, since he knows his mom and relationship with her, although saying "its entirely on you" could be read in this context and that'd be fine with me.
