Hi all,

A little bit of a different journey compared to most here in regards to a quiz site. Instead, I'll be adding a quiz plugin on my current news website that serves 1.5m+ pageviews per month to over 600k+ unique users per month.

I did something similar almost two years ago, but had tons of issues with the Quize plugin (although it was great page views wise) being sold here. I might go back to that, or I'll buy a different quiz plugin.

Why I'm doing this? Last year in May, my website hit a record of 2.5m unique users serving over 7 million pageviews in that month. Due to the niche declining quite a bit, we're at the new figured mentioned above.

In order to try increase our pageviews, I'll add the quiz plugin and promote it on my articles. We already have a network on the site and are plugged into pretty much every single ad demand partner there is. The site makes a lot of money from the video ads we have, and I actually have a database type of site for some games but I added a quiz to and saw my pageviews and revenue increase ten fold.

It'll be interesting to see what I can do with a quiz plugin on my current site, and I'll keep you all updated along the way.

An interesting journey, subscribed and in case you have any questions I'll be happy to assist.

The last version is 5 days old vs what you used 2 years ago it's a different and technically much more advanced product.

On average I'm generating 500k pageviews from 25k visits, so you'd be able to have aa huge increase, just make sure that the server is ready for that.

Hey!

Thanks for the reply. Of course I meant no offense in my original post by the way! I sent you a PM, I'll be happy to use the latest version of the plugin and see how it performs. I remember when I ran tests, I saw a huge surge in pageviews therefore resulting in a big revenue increase.

Server wise I'll be good, my server will be able to handle anything!

I appreciate the reply!

no offence but you’re not making a right move, instead of doing the heavy work I would suggest you to embed quizzes from play buzz and monetise it

https://publishers.playbuzz.com/monetize/

Playbuzz suck :) We spoke to the head of publisher partnerships, they really wanted our site to sign up with their ad network. They couldn't beat our current network, and by using them we'd have to replace our current network, so that's a no go.

I totally agree about PB :)
Do you run header bidding?

Yep, plus with PB you can't increase page views, especially with the units we tested on their new platform EX.CO.

We do run header bidding, yes :) Our network takes care of the header bidding as well as direct campaigns.

Music to my ears - it's rarely I meet someone on the forum who at least heard about ad server or header bidding.
I assume you're not managing server (GAM) yourself, your provider takes care of all management?

Haha, I could say the same to you!

Yes, to be honest, have no expertise or knowledge with GAM, we have our network take care of everything. We even have connections with some of the largest gaming companies in the world including G Fuel, Logitech and more. However, as we have no idea how to price direct campaigns ourself, nor do I have the knowlegde to ever serve it, I pass any direct campaigns to the network who have a sales team in almost every major country.

We leave money on the table, something I'll need to consider as I try to acquire sites and build them up.

How to start with Header Bidding? We have a website that is doing 500k PVs a month. How can we monetize it with Header Bidding? Where should we start?
I was thinking about joining some partners that would help us with HB, but is there any website where we can add just their codes use HB? For a small percentage of revenue share?

I don't like ezoic that they are not showing their revenue share.

There are companies that provide demand and manage that for you on the rev share, and there are companies (like what I do) that setup for a few without rev share.

This is great case study to see the real effects of quizzes.

Based off your connections your site is a gaming news site, so you'll be creating quizzes around games I assume. Promoting the quizzes within the news articles would be a really nice combo!

Good luck!

What do you mean? You can set this up with one-time payment without revenue share?

That's right. There are pros and cons - such as you have full control, but if you need an update this would be additional service, but depending on the size of your site (traffic) and how you conduct business it could be a perfect solution.

following this journey :-) I have few noob questions. It would be great if you can answer these :-)

1. What is the adnetwork you are using buddy?
2. What do you mean by Header Bidding?

Thanks :-)

1. It not a single ad network, more like dozen or dozens
2. It's an auction where highest bid (rate) wins, ad networks compete for each ad impression and the one ready to pay the most wins.

E.g. AdSense will buy this impression at default price for 20¢ via header bidding auction it could be $1.
