What kind of backlinks you create/buy? Don’t you buy PBN/ Web 2.0 backlinks?

NEVER been affected by a Google update.
Simply give Google what they have ALWAYS asked for since the beginning of the internet:
1. Main keywords, secondary keywords and LSI keywords within your content
2. 1,500 - 2,000 words of quality content per post
3. Youtube video and SEO optimized image on each post
4. Link to an authoritative site within the post
5. Link to one of your pages or Home page within the article
6. Get quality backlinks (aka guest post) linking to your post

That is exactly what I did. with my site. Each of these steps is within every article. Nevertheless the traffic is almost at zero (from 5K organic users/day) because every page seems to be deindexed. I found lots of spam sites copying my content and some bad backlinks to my site from forums, commentaries and so on (guess many of them are natural since I wrote many how-tos.
Now you tell me how to avoid this :-(

I think everyone with quality content will see good things from this update. I myself am seeing good rankings for now.

As long as you follow google guidelines there is nothing to worry about. There might be slight fluctuations but the long term result will not change. I am fellow blogger so I know what i am talking about. I have seen my fair share of ups and downs. So my friend all we can do is to try coping up with the G updates to survive.

if you have an affiliate site, maybe you need to mark the links as „ugc“ links

I noticed on my website and have analyzed some other websites and here's what I noticed:
If you have a rich snippet position (especially for product reviews (TOP 10 etc.), your article in the organic search result will be moved to the 2nd page of Google. Before the update, you could have both positions on the first page of google (rich snippet and let's say 1 position in the search results).

There was something that rolled out on Monday, as I saw a ton of movement (mostly green). I'm going to double down on my theory that this current January update that is still rolling is almost exclusively backlink related. Couple interesting observations:
- The majority of client's who saw ranking increases had bought a good amount of link recently (link velocity was hockey stick curve)
- The inverse being, client's who saw a decrease/no increase in rankings hadn't had an uptick in link velocity over the last few months
- The sites who saw decreases also had a good amount of link decay in the last 3-9 months.
I would bet a good amount that this is Google cleaning out their index. Very Penguin-esque. Therefore, if you are buying shit links or not buying any kind of links at all, you were probably vulnerable to this update.
Just my 2 cents.
