I can personally vouch for namecheap. Host 4-5 websites on business plan and an entire database of 4 million+ articles. Works really good for me. Although I would personally advice you to keep your budget low and get something for 2-3 months time, as you can get a lot of good things for cheap during black friday deals. I know it's in november but instead of paying for full year go with a hosting which allows you to pay for 3 months and host with them.

During black friday you can buy a lot of things for cheap.

@MountainGuy I have never used managed WordPress hosting. I have installed WordPress more times than I can remember on Namecheap shared hosting and never had a problem.

Thanks for the info/offer guys. I am looking at namecheap and they look good. Do yall use the shared hosting with them? I am kinda torn between that and the managed wordpress hosting. it claims that is about 3x as fast as the shared hosting and they are similar in price. Although I do like that you can do 3 websites on the shared plan ....

I should mention that namesilo said it has been more than 2 days so no refund is possible but only 9 bucks out the window there for hosting so oh well. I am pretty sure I am going to move to namecheap

I've heard that namecheap is bad for hosting as it is goodaddy and other registrars. Not their business and they usually suck at it.

You should get a reseller account, so you can have individual cpanel accounts fro each domain. It makes it easy to sell the individual websites later on and I think it helps with SEO compared to using a addon domain.

By the way, reseller hosting account are cheaper than you think. I pay about $24 per quarter, for up to 50 domains/cpanel accounts.

Thanks Guys I really appreciate it I ended up going with Hawkhost .. got their shared hosting for 3.75 per month and the setup of everything was very easy. I am hoping they are as fast as i hope they are and I will decide by black friday where to hopefully invest for a year at. I may end up getting a theme or two at black friday just because last year they were so so cheap.

Currently I am writing most of myself. I have a partner who is writing before I edit it as well but again he is on a percentage basis so I have no ongoing expenses for writers. I really hope to have some writers in the future

Update: I got a website live now and my first post is live as well. I still need to set up some of the layout of the site but I am working on that.

So excited I have my first post up!!!! I have another 6 or so ready to go that I hope to get up most of tonight when I get the kids down.

Update: Site is now hosted at Hawkhost with cloudflare free servers setup.

I have yoast/wordfence/w3 total cache installed for plugins.

Setup Google Analytics and Google Search. Added sitemap to google and added each post I made. Site was indexed the day after I added tracking code.

6 post up with ~4800 words total.




I have now posted all of the articles I had prewritten so now with the server setup and my old articles posted it's time to create some content!

194 Post to go .

I dont have any internal linking yet. There are a few places I can put some but honestly need more content that is relevant to existing articles before I can really link correctly. With my broad niche/keyword research I will have to write more articles than normally to find good areas to interlink.

Update: I am ranking on page 3 for a page I made yesterday!

I was going to try and wait a week or so before updating but I couldn't help myself

Ranking 27 for a keyword that gets 100-200 searches monthly. I started ranking 9 hours after article is posted

Total articles up 8 ~6000 words.

I found another great keyword to write for 200-500 searches ... Im going to try and get it up and one more 100-200 search today ... I think I might be able to break through the sandbox a lot earlier with the low volume keywords so it would make sense for me to do them early and try and get some organic links as they rank.

I am really building a brand on this one and would love to have a great logo designed at some point but going to focus on more content.

Trying to make myself focus on the 100-200 search article keywords I have found although it is so very hard to not pick the ones with more searches first.

I dont expect that first page to stay ranked I am guessing it will bounce around like they have in my previous journey but I am excited how quick it ranked to page 3. I have never seen such success so early

If your site starts to take off, take a look at GreenGeeks. I've hosted outdoorsy sites with them because their sale prices are pretty good, they have great support and they 100% offset their carbon footprint with wind energy. Put that on your site and you get a bit of a cred boost (IMO). Good luck with the journey!

Thanks alot I will keep that in mind. I may incorporate green energy offset down the road. I like the sound of that.

Update. 9 articles up ~6800 words. got one article up for a 200-500 keyword and added a couple hundred words to another existing article. I have my next article decided on and it targets a 100-200 search so I am thinking I should be able to rank soonish with it if my theory on the google sandbox not effecting the lower search terms as much. Hopefully I get some portion of it posted tomorrow and I am expecting another article from my partner soon as well.

If it ranks right away I will try and force myself and my partner to focus on these keywords now so we can get score some early ranking and traffic and hopefully some early links.

You're lucky to know a partner with a lot of topic knowledge but no SEO skills! How are you dividing equity in the site? Do you pay them for content only or do they have a stake in the site's success?

We are 50/50 partners currently. If I get too far ahead of him in content I will have to restructure the deal with him or offer to let him pay for some outsourced content to see how that goes. We both have busy lives with a lot of moving parts so at times have a ton of reasons that make creating content tough (Like most family men I am sure)

We are aiming for 200,000 words by the end of the year ... I would love to do a lot more than that but I am sure it would require outsourcing.


Update! [Case Study] Does the value of a low volume keyword matter in how hard it is to rank the keyword?

Lets find out! I found the best keyword for sure for the site. Most of the keywords I am finding are for products around 50-100 dollars and I am trying to find info related keywords for traffic.

I was going through this process today and found a great keyword with super low difficulty for a 950 dollar product!

Search volume is 100-200 a month so it should be able to rank right away if my theory on the search volume is right.

If value of the keyword does not matter as far as google sandboxing I think I should be able to write an article that ranks right away similar to my other article with similar search volume that is holding steady on the third page of goog.

I won't wait too long before I am going to skew the results by linking an instagram account I have that is relevant to this buyers guide but I will wait at least the 9 hours I waited on the other article.

The commision value off of each sale would be 40 bucks ... If this things ranks right away the potential for serious money quickly goes way up.

I wish all my articles were 2 to 3 times longer .... trying to develop my writing to a point where I can get more relevant content that sounds good. I love the idea of adding a faq at the end of each article so I try implementing that going forward and see how it goes
