I will try to keep it in TL;DR format.

Alert! Girlfriend Depressed
My lovely girlfriends has been in depression for almost two full weeks, why? Working too much, no vacation this year, not speeding to much money simply because we can't afford it (very low salary for how time we spend in office)

One year objective
We've been thinking to quit our shitty jobs in more or less then a year.
That means we should achieve 2000$/month in that time

What are going to do?
Making a new brand website and earn money with Amazon and Adsense

What have we done until now?
My website is running for almost 1 month
  • Bought a .com domain + hosting
  • Installed Wordpress
  • Installed a $45 Wordpress theme
  • Making some visual customization to make it look more awesome and clean
  • Optimized the web page speed (for now is at 2s per load) - need more improvements
  • Created About, Privacy Policy, Contact pages
  • Created pages on all social media networks
  • Created 6 unique hand-written articles (between 1400 - 4000 words each)
  • No backlinks to the money site for now
  • Created a few backlinks for my wannabe PBN (still trying things and see which ones works better)
What's the plan for the future?
  • Having my girlfriend writing everyday and keep posting at least 1 article once at 3 days
  • Having my self in a continuous lesson about link building (trying to build as many links as I can on my "test" website)
  • Trying to learn more about Pinterest (might get a lot of traffic from it) and maybe to start a few campaign ads to see how it works.
  • Post on Quora, Reddit, Twitter everyday for one month
Results so far:
Amazon: nothing, just a few clicks
Adsense: didn't even applied for this yet, maybe in a few weeks
Website stats:

I don't know when I will update my journey next, I'm super busy with the office work so maybe in a few days, weeks.

Any advice would be highly appreciated.

Wish me luck guys or my girlfriend with go down and drag me with her, haha

Be focused and don't loose motivation if you have tried for a while. Keep it hard and see if it works

The whole point on Internet Marketing/Passive Income is that you go work your shitty, shitty jobs at shitty shitty hours and let your online work keep you above the water. Once you have said site up and running, you'd legitimately be able to go to work, come home and edit stuff for an hour or two and let it grow over time.

That's why I love running websites, no matter how hard you struggle IRL, if you keep working on them online and struggling IRL you're gonna get a big ass paycheck eventually.

I know exactly how you feel bruh it's heart breaking reading this, especially cause it's clearly you that doesn't care and your SO is struggling with mental health. Give that woman a hug and stick to BHW and working IRL brah!

Wishing you both the best of luck. Just keep pumping out content, even if the search volume is really low.

I agree with some of the statements above. As bad and depressing as it sounds working your job, it lets you use your job funds to invest in your business, and keeps you "safe".

Whilst your actions are brave, wanting to quit and start on your websites with full attention, be a little cautious about how you spend your time, making sure you utilize it correctly and know each step of the plan.

Exactly, I agree with this guy. What happens if you quit your job, pump a decent amount of cash into your site then the site doesn't work out? There's a lot more reasons to keep your job and your site concurrently, another one is with a site and no job you'll end up like me. Sitting indoors nearly 18 hours a day pumping kids through sites(Lucky it's better than what I used to do.)

Following this to keep updated

Well, in the future to scale the website would means to travel a lot and make cool pictures and articles around it, that should be our job haha.
Thanks for all the words guys!

The point on BHW is that you don't gotta spend money on travelling, taking pictures and stuff ;)

Let me go out get you a few pictures of Ireland and then the next guy will go out get you a few pictures of Spain, you get me?

Cool, wishing you luck! You seem to be getting a few dozen uvs daily already, is that mainly from reddit? Definitely give pinterest a shot and start creating 10-20 images for it daily. If you do that and do it right you'll probably be able to add $1-2/day to your amazon income daily and therefore will hit your 2k goal i a month or two. But there is a learning curve to see what sort of approach/niche works best there. Dont spend on ads yet.

Agreed, if it's a topic you already know well, it's probably best to not even do kw research. And don't half-ass your writing, if you're going to write an article, write it well and don't rush through it just to get the task off your plate.

Always have a very actionable list of 10-100 article titles, preferably each with already downloaded images, links with sources to information & bullet points. That way your writing job is easy and automatic for days/weeks to come, and coming up with the actual list will take you only a few hours. I can write 10 articles daily with a very well-crafted list. Without it, I struggle to write one, and put off writing it for a few days. So, it increases my output 30-50 fold.

If you don't do that and just sit down to write about horses or whatever, you'll get stressed out and because of uncertainty, will start putting off your writing and hating it.

That applies to everything, always have a super-simple plan, on which you work on like a robot. Any uncertainty about 'what to do' when you sit down to work will just ensure very poor output/productivity.

The lucky part is my girlfriend is in love with the niche we are fighting for :)
She love to write about that subject
She has also a lot of knowledge in that area
So we should both be fine

Great journey goals.

BUT a pro tip: don't mix depression or whatever as a motivator.

Soon as you reach all your goals her depression will be the same. It's a clinical thing.

You can buy a yacht and spend 300 days a year in vacation, nothing will change in that respect.

Thanks for the good words guys, really helps in reading this!

I think I will focus all my attention on social media for now.
Two days on Pinterest, two days on Reddit, two days on Twitter, same goes for Quora and Facebook and see which one gives the best results
I will keep you updated!

Hmm, I dunno about that. From my research, depression develops from the sustained cortisol release that comes from being stressed about something, but not feeling like you can escape it. Then you become helpless and there's a whole book on the subject called 'learned helplessness' by Martin Selingman.

A dead-end job that you want to leave, but don't feel like you can is a good way to develop depression.

But even a less-obvious stressor can lead to depression if it's sustained long enough. Like having back pain, but avoiding going to the doctor and eventually just 'accepting' your pain and becoming helpless.

Feeling like you're making progress towards a goal you know is important to you has a highly therapeutic, anti-depressant and stress-relieving effect IMO. So does travel, because a new environment forces your attention outwards and away from your ruminative thoughts.

Success is not therapy. If you fail at it, it gets 2x worse. If you succeed you get a small injection of something a professional should be giving you as medication.

Depression : get proper treatment.

Work: go for it, kick ass and make $$$.

Two different things.

Good luck bro! Our journeys sound pretty similar. Are you in the health and fitness niche too? My girlfriend is writing the content for the website and I'm doing all the seo/promotion of it.

Kinda yes! Do you have any results?

Don't focus on AdSense only.
Once you start getting more traffic - add more networks to monetize with.

OP stated that his gf has been depressed for 2 weeks because of clearly stated external circumstances (which clearly defines non-endogenous depression, or absolutely not what you call 'a clinical thing') and you arrogantly suggest that she will not recover (if there's even anything to recover from) on her own and needs 'treatment'. You then state that you think antidepressant therapy consists of ingesting the same chemical you get from success in a pill form. It's obvious that you shouldn't really be giving advice on the matter.

I'm not going to say anything more about depression in this thread, because this is an IM forum and because I highly suspect OP isn't really using the word depression in a clinical sense.
