I am in a pretty big niche that has some hard competition ( like, big businesses' competition)

Not bothered by that fact though. Because literally every single influencer i find in my niche is fake. Filled with powerlikes and paid comments. I cannot find a single one worth buying a shoutout from.

Have any of you ever had something crazy like this before?

The niche is gaming equipment. (i got my very own products so differentiating is not the issue)

Don't go for thoes who got a lot of followers , try and go for thoes who got not a big number of followers but they have real comments etc. It's better someone who got 5k 10k followers and have real people than thoes 100k followers accounts that have 95% of their followers fake

U can tell by how people comment or when u visit their profile u can check if they are active as normal people or just a bot.

Did them too. I feel like the gaming niche is just full of bad apples when it comes to influencers.

With gaming influencer do you mean streamers? You should probably try with female gaming streamers there are a tons of them.

Maybe i gotta go for something more related to gaming instead of pc gaming and try my luck there?
The problem u gonna find is it's not gonna be as much as targeted if u go for gaming and also depend on your product if it's hot or not.U have to test

You better use that money to feed your account with well targeted accounts followers coming from child accounts

I have account related to xbox gaming. I also follow a ton of twitch streamers (various platforms). I would assume your equipment is for PC gamers right? I also end up following cosplayers ... many of them. A lot of gamers actually follow cosplayers. Try to find those accounts, perhaps?

95% of 100k leaves you with 5k real, the same as your first suggestion.

It was an "example" what I mean is thoes 5000 won't get to see ur post that's I suggested to op so he can go for people who got a small amount of followers and who have people that interact with their post

One would have to be under the influence to trust an influencer.

Small influencers are just as fake as big ones, they just haven't gotten themselves big.

It's common knowledge and that scam is going to fizzle out - which is good, because companies will order some real content instead of cheesy snapshots with "influencers" sitting on their bed surrounded by orange balloons.

PS: I saw many comments with the blue tick and thought this must be genuine. Until I saw that account reached the full amount of likes within one hour. Looks like blue tick accounts sell their comments - fake fake fake.

I know numbers don't work like that in real life, just found it funny. I'm messing with you. :p

Are all these fake influencers on a specific platform such as Instagram, or is this an epidemic on all platforms including others like YouTube, reddit and even tumblr etc?

Perhaps try thinking out of the box and try targeting and researching other non mainstream platforms like that and think like tumblr etc. Its not my niche so in not sure.

You could look at it in a positive way that if you organically and genuinely grow your accounts, you could be the main influencer in that niche. People will see your content and its interaction rates etc. If you are genuinely one of the only real ones, people will see that and reward you with loyalty and likes, shares and comments and hence sales and clicks, good luck op

What i would do is ask influencers to provide screenshots of their audience insight / instagram analytics, if they don't even have business accounts then don't bother. Also, try to contact people that you see in explore page, fake engagement can't help you get there easily i think. And you can try to contact so called micro influencers who are from 3-10k followers they are cheaper and sometimes you can have good result with them.

Gonnna try that next. It is not super targeted but at least a lot more than just gamers.

Great suggestion! i'm gonna start looking for them.

I sadly already tried other socials as well. I think i might just be better off creating brand awareness, retarget and build myself up without shoutouts. Maybe find a good youtuber or something.

How were you so precise that all of your competitors were using fake social signals?

My competitors are really big established companies that already have a big name in the industry. They don't use influencers on social media. They use Gaming pro's (athletes) the budget for that is enormous.
