i got scammed by a developer on codecanyon (paypal case)

Hello BHW,

I got scammed by a dude from codecanyon. He is selling an app reward source code. On codecanyon it's something like $108 but he posted on his Codecanyon page that if you contact him on skype is $80.

Okay, I asked him a few questions before I bought the code like "It will be approved on google play?" and he said "You have my guarantee that it will be accepted by google".

All good , I sent him the $80 on paypal , he gave me the link to download the source code (it was full of bugs , i tried to make the app working and i did).

I made the icons and the other photos google play requires , I wrote a nice description and then I submited the app for review.

Google Play suspended/rejected my app "
Issue: Violation of Spam policy
We don’t allow apps that spam users or Google Play, such as apps that send users unsolicited messages or apps that are duplicative and low-quality."

This source code will not get approved by google and I sent a message to the developer , I said to him that I want a refund.

He said that he will help me the next day. The nexy day he told me to wait another day. Third day I was getting annoyed and I asked him for a refund. He doesn't responded for about 2 hours.

I started a dispute on paypal and then he magically replied to me on skype that he will not give me a refund because it's not his fault bla bla.

I escalated the dispute to paypal and the scammer-developer said that I will not recover any money because it is a digital/downloadable product.

What do you think? Is any chance I could recover the money? I provided to paypal all the details and screenshot with the skype conversation when he said that I have a guarantee from him that it will get accepted.

On codecanyon it would have been the same thing , the other buyers (who bought the source code on codecanyon) are trying to get a refund but they can't

PayPal should get your $$ back - takes some time because PP loves to hold everyones $$ - but file a claim with PP , wait and PP should rule in your favor, they almost always rule in buyers favor ---- Good Luck

I did that and he reported all of my comments and now nobody can see them , it says "Comments are under review" or something like this

I provided them all the info, photos. I'm not hurt that I got scammed but if I will ever recover the money I will not be sad ) with 80$ i can travel ~1000 km (~55l of diesel ) )

Buy the plugin from code canyon, download it and submit a ticket with Envato to check the code with them. They might investigate the code and take the download offline.

file the claim , follow the rules - because you need to escalate the claim- so stay on top of the claim, and I am almost sure you win. Takes a few weeks because as I said PP loves to hold everyones money for as long as possible - the minute you open a claim PP already takes the money out of the sellers account and waits until PP makes a decision. and again is usually favorable for the buyers , almost always -

tell PayPal guy in India = Dear idiot scammer in India , you need to give back my money or I will escalate claim with PP and I will win and you will lose , then PP may cancel your account because the more claims you get the more likely that PP will cancel you.

couple of days ago guy from romania scammed me for $115 worth of ADA cardano, so if paypal doesn't return money blame it on karma

If your in revenge mode do this, and submit screenshots of the email you got from google, if you just want your money back give paypal a call tehy will push throught the dispute and give you your money back

Go to the paypal resolution centre (as you have already filed a case) and see if any action is pending from your side. Be sure to include the full chat history, and other forms of communication; if any. 99% sure you will get your money back (if you didn't do f n f). Also, from next time; hire a proper developer for making apps. $108 for an app is ridiculous price. As for the $80, he clearly mentioned that this money was for contacting him via skype.. isn't it? So, he spoke to you over skype and you paid the money, right?

First of all, you likely never win the case in paypal if it is about digital product. It state very clearly that paypal will not refund if that was a digital product. Event if that guys send you trash source code from google, you still can't win the case. I got scammed one by a guys selling me a website (which also come from India) and turn out he send me a free website template he downloaded from google. After that, I escalate the transaction to paypal, with solid evidence but I still lose the casebecause it a digital product and the seller alreayd sent me something so nothing they can do with it.

My advice: Take this as a lesson and never purchase direct from seller on some product like this. Its much safer that you purchase from the market like Evanto where they deal with the appeal seriously. If the seller not send you money back, Evanto can take it from their funds and refund to you, also they will terminate that scammer account.

he wasn't scared , i told him that I will start a dispute on paypal but he doesn't give an f ) I escalated the dispute to paypal and they said that on 26 may it will be over i hope it will be in my favour

Sorry to hear that man , I know there are romanian scammers too , when your country is ruled by corrupt politicians , illiterate and uneducated people who don't even know their own language it's impossible not to have people like this.
