Anyone actually doing IM to achieve a more basic lifestyle?

So some people told me to take some hours for myself too, weird enough I'm already bored as it feel like every minute not spending on my projects is a min lost but ok.

You know what I love about this title and purpose? It's a contradiction!

As I've watched tons of YT videos, courses, messages on all kinds of forums and spoke to many people I have to conclude that the majority wants to earn as much money as possible so they can live the luxurious lifestyle.

Big house with a pool, a sports car in front of the door, expensive jewelry, clothes, engraved silly sunglasses etc

And although I totally understand this behavior as you want to fit in society, your country, family, friends whatever it's just silly man!

But the real contradiction, especially if you live in a tier 1, upper tier 2 country is when you want to live the simple lifestyle.

Simply for the reason that most people in tier 3 countries already live a basic lifestyle and want to break free from it while I want to achieve it but to do so I need money..

Several people asked me what I want to achieve. And seriously, I don't want to achieve being famous, being rich, spending tons of money on jewelry, parties, cars etc.. I want to reach something totally different!

I need the money to buy some land, far away from society if possible build some crazy ass house in a hill or tree made out of crazy shit like tires, clay whatever and totally self-powered. Get animals and pets, grow my own food, chill at a campfire at night with my dogs, just basic shit.

I feel like 9-5 or running a big biz can be the path to luxury but not happiness. If I can have more time over for myself and people I love that's what I want.

It's fine to be materialistic, but the value is only in how people perceive you. Foregoing that and prioritizing being happy from within is key.

Might be a bit of a hippie rant from my side, but I fully agree with you.

My goal is to stay the way I am. Good family, circle of friends. I live in an area of outstanding natural beauty with a view of fields and woods that are protected by law.
So I'm not interested in being a billionaire but keep my lifestyle, oh and I'm semi retired

where is for fun box ? i don't need money yet i just love controlling what people see , buy and playing with traffic watching CVR watching what works and learning some new stuffs when i was 14 yo i felt in love with hacking world so i spent 5 years on hacking now am 19yo i dont care that much about hacking anymore and i felt like i was a bad guy and yeah am feeling love again with IM for now am gonna spend the next 5 years learning and having fun in the IM world it's the truth

Nah man, I totally agree. I'm basically being forced into a certain lifestyle otherwise you are fucked! I want, I NEED to break free from it because I just don't like it, I hate it!

Honestly, I just want to earn enough money so my parents don't need to work until they're 75 years old to survive. Once my parents are taken care of, I plan on withdrawing from society and minding my own business (even more than I do currently).

Everything comes and goes, so as the money, all you need in life are good people around you that will make your life better, and also to enjoy what you do. I have multiple avenues for my current IM projects:
1) get free stuff to acheive my house goals. I want to urban homestead, so I have multiple sites within that niche to build exposure, credibility, and get free stuff to further that goal
2) to become recognized as a top person in my field(highly specialized), so I can stop the grind and be offered consulting gigs and board positions. My current boss and mentor was just offered her first high profile board position, so I know it can be done. I use IM to further that.

As for my other stuff, I use it for whatever cash, meaning my current day job gives me more money than my wife and I can spend, so any other money from IM is for whatever: like currently we have been using it to help local charity startups.
