Danny Relic needs your help! Reward!

:D Thanks for your support swan! We're working hard to getting Topic Getter up and running.

Hey Gnexx,

Thanks for working with Danny on this topic getter. It will surely be of great help to anybody venturing at Ac.
Good luck to you guys and thanks for living the BH spirit! ;)

Gnexx and I will be working on Topic Getter some more this week. For right now, I'm asking that you please do not send any more article sources to me. I've been having to empty my PM box way too much. :P

Thanks everyone for being so generous with your article sources! :)

Hello everyone!

Here's how Topic Getter looks so far:

screenshot1ay.png

You type in your keyword, and word length, then you select which directory you would like to pull from.

Once you click start, the Articles frame will populate a listbox with article titles of proper length from the directory specified.

Simply double-click on the article title and it will be stored in the Articles Downloaded listbox below.

When exporting the articles you downloaded to a folder, you can choose to zip them up right there to send to your writer, or you can click the simpler "Export" button and have it export to an unzipped folder (named as the keyword you put in).

What are your thoughts everyone? Any features you'd like to see?

Looks good. :)

Will it search for articles with the exact word count you typed? What if I want to search for articles with at least X number of words?

If you put in 400, it will find articles with at least 400 words. I'll change the label to say, "Minimum Word Count".

Danny you are the man! I'm going to divorce my husband, marry you, make tons of babies and roll around in the money we'll have made from AC.

Seriously, thanks for your hard work.

Lol haven't heard that one before! :P

Thanks!

The program looks beautiful Danny. Thanks again, you've really allowed those of us who use AC, the opportunity to really automate a lot of the work.

Thanks for the nice words kalikola. :)

PS: Who likes the new avatar?

I like it :biggthump

lol this was great from Olivia...

Boom shakka boom boom! :knockedou

Thanks!

I've got a few article directories hard-coded already. I want to have plenty for everyone to choose from. :)

For those who might have been curious, and those who weren't...

Topic Getter will be multi-threaded.

This is because some directories will require that the program search for a keyword, scan each individual article for word count, and then decide whether or not to display it in the Articles listbox based on that word count.

By multi-threading this program, it will run faster and get more done in less time. :)

Nice Danny! Show me it later ya?

@ Olivia: Thought I let you know that just made my day :D

Glad I made a few people chuckle. I'm just so grateful to people like danny and redtide and everyone else who contributes their time and energy to help others make a little bread. Because of you guys I'm able to stay at home and raise my little ones and still bring home a nice paycheck. You guys really are the best. *:grouphug:*

Those tattletale stay-at-home-moms on AC can suck our collective dick. Hatin ass bitches.

So Danny just came and picked me up. He just showed me Topic Getter with 50 threads. You wouldn't believe how much faster it is than using a single thread. I'm talking like at least 10 times faster. Y'all are in for a treat :D

As we've discussed it, you'll be able to specify the number of threads you would like to run to fit your own computer and its resources. Danny's computer can handle upwards towards 100 threads, but your computer might not be as bad ass as his :D

Olivia, you just made my day. Twice. :)

UPDATE:

I'm playing around looking for a good number of threads. Here's what I've got:

With 15 threads, it can execute 30 connections in 12 seconds. (Load 30 pages in 12 seconds)
With 1 thread, it executed 30 connections in 20 seconds.

This is an 8 second difference. This is huge. This means the program will spit out 30 articles that meet criteria (word count) in just 12 seconds. Without multi-threading, it will spit 30 articles out in 20.

Depending on what you want your article keywords to be, this can mean the difference between leaving Topic Getter open for 1 hour to find articles, and leaving it open for 20 minutes.

(You still don't have to do any work, but faster is always nicer.)
