Its in its "AOL/dial-up/56k" phase, compared to the 100mbps/1gbps we have now. Very early stages and very volatile right now. Personally, I think its here to stay.

I agree with you on this one. But I think their AOL days are over. A few years ago, bitcoins were going for 5 and bucks a peice, right now, they are up to 100 bucks per bc. So, I think they are getting there. I would say they getting better and more stable, but I think when computers start coming out with better graphics cards, and processors, that it will be a big thing. Already, so many companies take bitcoins as a currency. 1 bitcoin = 100 USD: not that far off.

Yes, currency is controlled in every form. At anytime the Feds could print trillions and make the dollar worth dirt.
And they could destroy currency and raise the value.

Same with Bitcoin. Someone knows how many Bitcoins are out their in total and I am sure some people have more
shares than others. I am sure their is manipulation within the e-currency market. Why not? They do it with real money every
day.

Excellent posts, unclemike. I'd just like to add that as far as I understand the Bitcoin system, the amount of Bitcoins currently in existence is known to all participants. We don't know how much some participant is holding, but that's part of the security of the BC system, it is completely anonymous. So if you gather a certain amount, nobody will know who you are.

It's very hard to manipulate the BC market, at current prices, you'd be looking at someone with hundreds of millions of U$ and whoever has that power can manipulate any market, not just Bitcoins. Just my 2 cents about that.

I'm kicking myself for not jumping on this when it was starting to get good. Now i'm looking at it and thinking, the glory days are over. Which is odd, it hasn't been around that long. I don't see it being a serious threat to any currency, and once global banks find ways to limit them... it will be back to the depths of the Internet.

Good idea, especially since Butterfly has been shipping all the miners out (not).

Butterfly is a boderline scam at this point. Maybe you'll get yours by 2015 if you order now.

This is a very good point, best I read so far. BTC is NOT declining steadily. It had an "unreasonable" peak a few months ago and a steep fall, but now it's been pretty stable for a while... http://blockchain.info/charts

BTC is just ONE cyptocurrency and there's plenty of ways of making money out of them (and their little siblings) and it all goes way beyond tera-watt hungry, gfx-based mining rig that'll soon be totally outdated and not a viable option..

Yup, but it is becoming the gold standard of crypto. Litecoin, and others will never be as valuable as BTC. But I do see a future of competing cryptocurrencies

It's one of the most safest way to earn money without duplicating the currency which eventually will lead to decrease in overall value of the currency. Bit coin is unhackable and investing in Bitcoin can give u profits but it must be done largly. With the highly increasing value of the Bitcoin in near future it will hit 3k $. As u cannot do mining in a normal computers currently as the computing power is low u can invest in Bitcoin and with time u can earn a good profit. This is just a small amount of facts on bitcoins
