Is Pinterest Dead?

Hello guys,

I wanted to drive traffic for my website. I set up 5 accounts, all looking legit, have followed 200 people with each one of them for 2 days now.

And all I gathered was around 20 followers for all 1000 follows made.

Is this normal? I'm following people from boards.

I don't how it is for you but I can't see who has "liked" a certain pin.

1. Group Boards with huge audience where you can be promoted as an contributor
2. 100+ accounts doing aggressive follow/unfollow

Its just basic view on Pinterest;

In fact there are lots of other ways to have success on pinterest for example - getting #1 spot on specific keywords - but for this you have to test, test, test and after few fails you will know more about search algorithm of PIN!

I don't how it is for you but I can't see who has "liked" a certain pin.

pin was one of the only few "what ever" media sites I never could make ANY ROI or Return on time...
and yes, I botted the crap out of it when Mass Planner was still some c# idea.

I tried botting on it, but got zero roi. I posted an infographic which went viral and it sends me traffic every day. So quality content is the key.

Sounds like a lot of work! But thanks for the insights, doesn't sound like something I can afford to attempt at this time though. I have found Pinterest useful in finding popular products for my drop shipping site (look for buyable pins with lots of transactions) was thinking it could be useful to drive traffic, but after reading this, I think I'll pass for the time being!

I'm trying to get into group & personal boards.

I have a competitor, who's doing the same as I do, follow/unfollow, with the exclusion of joining group boards. He followers 300 people a day. To this day he has followed 5000 people and has 2500 people following him. I don't know how he does that. I can't replicate his results and it's depressing me.

A bit blackhat move, but I'm thinking of copying the top images, editing them and uploading and see what will happen.

About getting #1 spot for a pin, what factors do come in play? We're not talking about SEO here, right?

Pinterest dead!? Of course not! No doubt, it's a bit more difficult to obtain Follow backs due to Pinterest updates etc. This is normal and to be expected.

IMO Pinterest is pretty good. I would not judge it based on just 2 days worth of following for a start. Pinterest is slow and people following you back on Pinterest is even slower. You need to have a nice full profile with plenty of boards. Then you also need to pin all the time. I set up about 100 pins a day to go out on each account. I rarely bother to follow on there because I use group boards which do generate some decent traffic. Its far from instant though most of the pins take months to gain traction but when they do and you have done it for months on end the results catch up quick.

I would say that's very normal figures for the amount of time that has passed. When I follow I tend to try to follow people who have lots of pins which shows they are active. They normally have more followers too so its worth my time and I get better results from the low following limits on Pinterest.

I used to use an app called tailwind for promoting and scheduling pins, there is a bloody good video on YouTube which is about 10 minutes long by an internet marketer using it. I used to be an affiliate of theirs but funnily enough I stopped just two days ago. Sadly it was producing the revenue that some of the things I promote do so I stopped but as a user and as a tool I would recommend it to people looking to get the most out of group boards. I could set up 100 pins on each account to go out throughout the day to all the group boards i selected and then I could randomize it so it looked pretty normal if you looked at the accounts pins. the video on YouTube explains that better. I posted about 50 promotion pins or pins to items in my shops and the other 50 were fodder just to look nice to random boards of my own to grow the account. I still see results 7-8 months on, i get hundreds o repins each week because i made a few pins for a week 8 months ago. all it takes is for a few pins to go viral on there and the account gets lots of organic growth. I say lots i mean more than it would normally, its far from lots.

Just get access to a ton of group boards, automate the pinning and the results will speak for themselves. Pinterest is very much not dead! The type of thing you are trying to promote on Pinterest makes a HUGE difference too, some things do very well by default. I would not give up on it yet, its not that much work honestly.

It's far from being dead, but it got a lot harder to drive traffic from there. That's what's happening with all social media networks as they evolve and their algo gets better (for them, not us )

You're defiantly doing something wrong if that's the case. Even if you Followed 1 k, I would still expect way more than 15 followers!

You have to do more than just follow/unfollow. It's best to have a money profile with 10+ supporting profiles that act like typical pinners including owning groupboards, joining groupboards, repinning, etc.

I did Pinterest for a while. Definitely more focused on content rather than follow/unfollow. Minimal results with that method, but posting good stuff got me repinned lots of times and brought in lots of followers.
