I have mygadget dot com and want to buy redgadget dot com , bluegadget dot com and greengadget dot com and do permanent redirections to
mygadget dot com/red
mygadget dot com/blue
mygadget dot com/green

Can this be done?. Will this hurt or help the SEO of mygadget dot com ?

Thx

You may want to host all the sites that will be 301ed to your main site on different IPs and with different nameservers and hosting to get good result.

Thx. So is this allowed by Google?

I would say it is allowed because I've done it before and haven't gotten penalized for it. I don't think Google has any problem with sites doing this because it's like brand management. As long as the site you're redirecting to has good, quality content then you shouldn't have a problem.

Heck even build backlinks to the redirecting domains to make it seem even more legit. Just know that I'm not Google and I don't know how their search algorithms work, but from my experience you should be fine.

Why you recommend different hosting?

These 301 redirects are accepted by google. So, this won't hurt your site rankings.

It depends on how long you want to stay pertinent. I you would like some quick results, don't even worry about the other domains.

BUT: If you have a niche that really deserves the attention of buying all of the domains, then go ahead and buy.

P.S. You won't need them unless you're going big, like 1,000 pages or so....

Thats exactly what I am doing . I am building a 1000+ pages site and want to buy smaller sites for fast result and authority

Is there a resource/technical guide on the internet on how to perform 301 redirection to sub folders of my main/mother site (ie mygadget dot com)?

Thx guys,

more question . Almost similar to my first question ... the difference is lets assume that the sites I want to buy are blogspot sites.

Say I want to buy redgadget.blogspot dot com , bluegadget .blogspot dot com and greengadget .blogspot dot com and do permanent redirections to
mygadget dot com/red
mygadget dot com/blue
mygadget dot com/green

Can this be done?. Will this hurt or help the SEO of mygadget dot com ?

Will mygadget dot com inherit previous rankings of redgadget.blogspot dot com , bluegadget .blogspot dot com and greengadget .blogspot dot com?

Without any doubt its allowed and its obvious. Many people are doing this dude. So you can easily use 301 redirect. or directly link to those sites. I don't think you need different IPs.
