Sudden drop of rankings for all keywords

Hi there,

I have an affiliate site who had decent rankings for about 400 keyphrases, suddenly all keywords from being in top 10 to 20 went to 500 to 700. What happened? ALL THE KEYWORDS. From having about 1000 unique per day visitors it went to 5. A real nightmare.

The site is still indexed, all promotion was done using White Hat techniques: Social Networks, some legal blog commenting and article directories. On site all white hat too.

I am thinking this happened because I stopped building links but this also could be a ranking fluctuation, but for ALL THE DAMN KEYWORDS?

Any similar experience and advice?

Possible reasons:
- Google robot not able to access your page maybe hosting blocked it or some hacker/competitor blocked google bot access to your page.
- Possible penalty for links, if you have a lot of links in main page example footer remove them all ASAP.
- Possible your website was hacked and some bad hacker put bad links in your website check main page source.
- Check google webmaster tools for more possible reasons.
 
Nop, no hacker attacks!
The crawler has access according to webmaster tools.
I have no links to other site in the main page neither in inner pages.

All keywords for all pages, the site has about 100 pages all optimized for keywords. This is a real disaster. I am on panic!
 
I hadn't noticed that my site is also dead in yahoo.
 
How long has it been like that? If you were doing everything whitehat then your site should come back to its previous position if you keep building links like you were doing before. Building a few high quality links usually does the job for smaller sites (think wikipedia/pr5+ relevant links).

There are many reasons to why this might of happened. Bad links, lack of unique content, competitors trying to take you out, google dance, etc. Its hard to tell without knowing the details. If you want you can pm me the link and I will take a look.

What do you mean? On-page OBL? Its best not to change anything at first since you might make things even worse.

That's bad...Maybe your server was down recently and crawlers couldn't access the site? If so, your site should come back to its previous position in several days :)

I think this might be fault of the hosting service as the site is dead in yahoo too.

My site also dropped in the rankings but now its back on its previous position :)
 
The Bad News is, it happened to ME!!

1200 UV from Search engines drop to 200, my site only can indexed by my primary keyword!

all keywords gone... this happened 3 days ago till now! ok i have 200k backlinks.
 
here's the reality?

google still index all pages? yes
goole show your url (site) at serp with keywords? no!
site is still good for bing,yahoo, and other search engines, the problem is the big G!

i've lost 1200 organic traffic!
 
31st October was the day of reckoning for several of my sites. Clearly, G changed the algo and wiped out many sites from the front pages. I have yet to firmly idenify the reasons but after 4 weeks despite serious linking work I see little changes - its back to ground zero with many of them so there is plenty of work to do!

It looks like google did something, because another of my websites dropped in a very big keyword.
 
We've noticed a great deal of our keywords for our clients are dropping too. I think Google is messing with some things. I know part of our problem was when Google started to display 4 (half of which were not relevant) results for each site. So when we were number 2 or 3 for a keyword, we dropped to 5 and 6.
 
That's why instead of building 1 mega-site I chose to build 1k worthless sites.

Give Google the middle finger and they'll pay you, play by their rules they'll say fuck you!
