Is fatcow better than iPage? Both use same datacenter and perhaps owned by same company

I would better prefer iPage when the choice comes b/w FatCow and iPage.

if you want to post a wordpress then fatcow/ipage are good options but if want to host your own custom scripts website with login/registraion systems then never go for those hosting services there server configuration is different then the other hosting services that provides cpanel.and those configuration mess alot with your php sessions also there are various database connectvity limitations in fatcow.
last year when these $1 offers came i got excited and bought a lot of them. later i realized that they were complete waste for me.
