I just tried a signup and things went as banttay indicated with two exceptions:

1) the procedure only let me sign up for one free anonymous domain and not two. (I'll email them about this later. I didn't make a big thing of it when signing up because even one anon domain and a year of hosting for $20 is damn good).

2) the whole signup procedure where the info gets init'ed and url'ed and password'ed, folded, spindled, and mutilated as you search through weird data quaintly labeled "help files" and "FAQs" developed by people for whom English isn't even their second language ... went smashingly smoother with NetFirms than it ever did with JustHost or GoDaddy! What a wonderful surprise.

great deal. i recently purchased an account with coolhandle. They had a special that you only had to pay for the setup fees and they give you a yr and a domain for free. setup fee was 5.95!

Got the same rate but I did not get the free domain name. You are only eligible for a free domain name if you get the 2 year plan.

Be careful what you use your Netfirms hosting account for. I won't want to host important websites with these guys. Here's some of their customers' reviews:

I am shock to see that GOOGLE still refer this web site for their google apps mx records hosting.

We are planning to file a law suite agains this comapny as Netfirms has seriously damaged our web development business.

"Overall netfirms has been ok. Price: reasonable (not the cheapest, but not bad either). space & bandwidth, a lot, but many hosts give you unlimited now. perl, mySQL and php 5 works fine (tell me a host where it doesn't though)... My main issue is downtime (which seems to have increased as of late...i'm actually waiting for my site to come back right now, been over an hour, second time this week). my other issue is the lack of virus scanning, (is it just me or did all of a sudden this become an issue, in the past month I know of 4 sites (mine and others) that have been implanted with viruses by them pesky hacking bot thingies, never happened to me before in the past 10 years of doing this stuff). in either case there are hosts that offer virus scanning, netfirms is not one of them. Sorry netfirms, it was a good run, but I'm moving on... "

NetFirms servers are down a lot. About every three months or so, I have come to expect a server outage that is at least a half day. I have been with NetFirms 3 years. This is enough to hurt my company's productivity and work flow. We receive a lot of workorders via e-mail and have lost of dollars to this. Today, it is down yet again. I've had enough and will go through the pain to transition all our web activity to a different host - I have only been reluctant to do so because of the possible down time and amount of staff and clients this will effect. Oh well...

Either way, it's a good deal.

Then again, they've been in business since 1998. Powering over 1 million websites (not sure if it's hosting or domains they're referring). Anyway, that's quite something. I guess they're not half bad. Their site also has a very professional feel, unlike many hosts. You'll notice it during the sign up process. They have over 36,000 Facebook fans. Support - I don't know. But they're pretty active on their Facebook page, so that means there's always a response.

In any case, 1 year of unlimited hosting with 2 domains for $20, it's one sweet deal. I don't know how to avail of the extra free domain, I guess I'll have to write them an email.
