Hello,
Everyone
Recently i and many forum users have been getting the following message (Your account has been locked because of possible 3rd party use.. blah blah blah ect)
In my manageflitter notifications today, I had 20,000+ notifications, i have never checked them i saw 1,000s of the same notification
We have detected that following @******** now could result in your account being temporarily locked by Twitter. Accounts which are followed more than once often result in accounts being locked.Find out more about Twitter locking.
Twitter has started temporarily locking accounts for a number of reasons;
When your account is locked you will not be able to follow new people, or send any Tweets from your locked account. If your account is locked you can go to https://twitter.com/account/resend_password to request a new password. Once you reset your password (you can also set it back to the same password you originally used) your account will be unlocked.
Twitter has introduced locking primarily to slow down people using blackhat tools to perform actions against Twitter's Terms of Service. However, we are noticing that some legitimate users are repeatedly finding their accounts are being locked and are having to reset their password each day.
Until Twitter resolves this problem, ManageFlitter has introduced Locking Protection which will identify actions which are likely to result in your account being locked and stop them from going through to Twitter.
You can disable Locking Protection from your ManageFlitter dashboard if you do not want to use this service.
If your account is still being locked while using Locking Protection, it may be another connected service causing problems. Here are some steps to try;
Hope this helps.

Twitter has started temporarily locking accounts for a number of reasons;
- strange login activity (high numbers of logins, particularly from different locations)
- performing aggressive following/unfollowing
- sending suspicious Tweets
- being reported for spam by other Twitter users
When your account is locked you will not be able to follow new people, or send any Tweets from your locked account. If your account is locked you can go to https://twitter.com/account/resend_password to request a new password. If your account is still being locked while using Locking Protection, it may be another connected service causing problems. Here are some steps to try;
- Go to https://twitter.com/settings/applications on while logged into Twitter on your account being locked and revoke access to all connected applications. Wait 24 hours. If your account is still being locked after you disable all 3rd party applications please let us know.
- Connect only applications one-by-one until you find the application resulting in your account being locked. You should wait 24 hours between connecting each application.
- If your account is locked again only after adding ManageFlitter, please contact us and we will investigate further. We are continually evolving Locking Protection, so any feedback you provide is very useful to us.
Hope this helps.
