My 'delayed autoresponder' method for gmail

O.k I just came up with a sweet way to make a delayed autoresponder with gmail.

You need to open 2 gmail accounts.

Number 1 gmail is where you collect all your ewhore emails or whatever.

Number 2 gmail has your autoresponder on it.

So once you have a few thousand emails in your first gmail account you apply a new filter with the following 3 rules.

1st rule: has the words @
2cnd rule: forward to Number 2 gmail
3rd rule: delete email.

Now you can 'apply the filter' to all of you emails in your inbox and it will forward them to the 2cnd gmail account which will then autorespond with your message. The filter will also delete all the emails so you dont respond again.

You can then remove the filter and start collecting the emails again in your first account.

When you do this doesn't the recipient see the email as being forwarded, I would think that might turn some people off from completing an offer or whatever it is you may be marketing to them.

Yeh i suppose they would do but i doubt it would put many people off, I mean you could just make out it was forwarded to another 'department' in your organisation :)
 
Also after you have sent them, make sure you delete the trash can and also the 'all mail' section otherwise it will forward them again next time.
 
Wait a second...so you are forwarding from Email1 to Email2, but then wouldn't Email2 just autorespond back to Email1? THat would mean that the original sender would never receive an Email back...

I believe the way gmail forwards, it doesnt leave a forwarded header, I have forwarded from gmail to yahoo for ewhoring plenty, and also, if your using it in conjunction with CL, they will just see the CL email at the top, then your email as the replyer, I think this will work, will have to test it out. Thanks!
 
Yes i think gmail forwards emails differently
 
Has anyone actually tested this fully? The only draw back is it will say forwarded from in the header?
 
O.k it seems as though even though gmail has said that it has forwarded your conversations, it actually doesnt - mods please delete this if you wish.
 
This will work good on Craiglist postings too :) thanks for the idea!
