Hey guys,
By now, most of you will know me and would hopefully have benefited from some of my posts/help over the years. I hope this will inspire some of you to go on and build a successful online business.
You can read my 1000th post here from just over a year ago to see how things have progressed since then: http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackh...-my-1000th-post-some-lessons-ive-learned.html. A few hundred thousand dollars and many long nights later, we?re still going strong
I?d recommend reading that thread again (if you haven?t already) as it has a lot of solid info and none of that has changed over the last year.
I?ve now been full time online for the last 18 months, make six figures a year profit and don?t regret a minute of it.
Now, I?m not telling you this to show off or promote anything, I?m telling this so the guys and girls newer to the forum can see how possible it is to make a GOOD full-time income just from the knowledge and resources on BHW. Some of you might have a bit more experience ? but not sure if you can take it to the next level (e.g. a full time income). It does take time, but for those of you who stick it out, you will not regret it.
Here?s a very basic timeline so you can see how I have progressed (I would consider myself/abilities to be average):
2008 ? joined BHW as a complete noob. I literally knew nothing. Read/lurked for about a year.
2009 ? started messing around in my spare time. Read a LOT. First time I sold a site for $XXXX. Made some bad deals and lost a lot of money, too.
2010 ? was still flipping sites for a few $ a pop. Scaled up when I went full time. Sold my first site for $XX,XXX.
2011 ? opened an office. Focused more on less projects. Sold over a million dollars in sites.
2012 ? who knows!
As you can see, it?s taken ~3 years to get to where I am at now. I am not even close to being a top earner, but I make more than enough to pay the bills and can only see that increasing. I do work hard and I do treat it like a real business ? if you?re hoping to start out working 2 hours a day making a full-time income, forget it. It?s not going to happen (not to start with anyway).
Some common misconceptions I see people on BHW having about IM:
- You do not need technical skills to do well. I still cannot put a website together.
- SEO is not the only way to get traffic to a site.
- It is not that hard ? you just need to actually DO WORK!
- "Methods" rarely die - they can almost always be twisted.
Blackhatworld has literally everything you need to make a full time income.
It?s absolutely full of smart people. Network with as many people as you can (regardless of post count) and you?d be surprised where that takes you. I?ve met a number of people I will do business with for years to come on BHW.
I?d recommend finding a few things you enjoy and sticking to them. Pretty much any ?method? can make money. Learn it inside out. I worked out early on that I like selling sites, so that?s what I do. There are very few people who make a full time income as website brokers, so don't be put off if your chosen route is not the most popular way of making money. You may find it's very profitable
Once you get a solid income from one source, it?s time to diversify. We try to have 4-5 main revenue streams at any one time. If you don?t possess a skill you need, either learn it, JV with someone or pay someone to do it.
You should never stop hustling. Even if you?ve had a great month, keep on grinding and closing deals as it won?t always be plain sailing. At some stage, a project will go wrong. Your Paypal will be closed. Your biggest client will vanish. A deal will fall through. Someone won?t pay up. Not being negative ? but you should always prepare for the worse. And in my case, that means making as much money as you can at any opportunity to counteract the bad days.
I personally believe there is no reason why anyone cannot make a full time income online from BHW alone (and I don?t mean just setup a copycat service on here and hope it makes money). It has all the people and resources you?ll ever need to build a successful business.
Breaking it down into five easy steps:
Learn. Implement. Test. Outsource/Scale. Sustain.
I also firmly believe if I can do it, anyone can. I have little/no skills that most people around here have (coding, design, SEO, writing etc.) but I do have a decent knowledge of business in general and have done hours of reading over the years. I?m also willing to work hard and go above and beyond for my clients. Want to do a call at 5am? Sure, no problem. When you?re starting out, you?ll always have competitors who are bigger and more established than you. I have always tried to counteract that by working harder, smarter and striving to be the absolutely best at what I do. I?d recommend you do the same
I'm not much of a writer and am low on inspiration today, but hope this helps some people
