Add a NEW Feature to prevent BUMPING the OLD Threads

Hello, I just saw this on another forum:

and I thought that this would be a good idea if we implement it to BHW because recently I have seen a lot of newbies bumping very old threads just to increase their post count and replying with short replies.

Maybe this "MESSAGE" can be shown on threads that are more then 1 years old at the beginning and the end of the thread.

1 year? I think 6 months is a fairly good enough.

That doesn't seem fair to me. Newbies already get bashed for posting "stupid" questions, I see a lot of replies with other users telling them to use the search button. Then when they do, they may find what they're looking for and have another question related to the topic. They'll either start a new thread and get thrown back to the search bar or they'll post something in the old thread. Most will choose the latter.

A warning or something to make them aware that they are going to bump an old thread would be a nice feature to have, but i think a ban is way too much of a punishment.

It would be better sth like:

If theres an old thread someone visited, and user wants to post, to just show him more recent threads. Like ic if user is on a 2008 cl thread, show him a 2012 or 2013 thread related-like thread.

This would bring users to more recent threads and SHOULD encourage further discussion and more active threads and users

This is a big problem in all vbulletin forums that employ similar threads functionality at the bottom.I have myself made mistakes several times due to this. So I would suggest to not show certain old threads in similar threads section.
Moreover we could just place a notification at the top of thread/or just below OP's post,that "this thread has not been replied since xxx days" .

To make everyone clear, I am not saying that we should ban the newbies that do this, but I was saying that it will be a good option if to BHW it is implemented a feature like this, saying to the user that is trying to reply to an old thread that this thread is very old and it is not a good thing to bump an old thread if is not needed.

As I mentioned to my OP:

I have seen newbies bumping old threads with replies like this:
Thnx for the share, Nice share, Subscribed to you, bla bla bla or even replying to a thread that was a non working download link THNX FOR THE LINK (They didn't even bother to see if the link was working)

So if STAFF implements something like this and mentioning that if they do this too often and just SPAMMING the forum to increase the post count they will have infractions...

Beside this I have seen even members replying to an old thread just because they didn't pay attention to the thread posting date, so if a message like this appears to the beginning and end of the thread they will see that they are reviving and old thread by mistake...

same thing I wanted to say . also the old threads might be actually good which new members might see also .

There is a vBulletin plugin that can do this, its called "Anti Bump Old Threads", but since I am not very knowledgeable about vBulletin i don't know if it is possible to implement it on BHW.

I would agree wit you. Everyone will go wild on them when they do mistakes. But it is like a precautionary measure, they'll be warned before they do anything wrong.
