Facebook just launched the new FanPage layout today!
You can see that it's the same as the new "Timeline" they released for profiles!

The changes are not "mandatory" yet but I'm pretty sure there going to force everyone into it. I have no idea how this will effect the static fbml/iframe because I have not applied it to my fanpages which have them on because I'm afraid it would ruin the page entirely!

This is what it looks like :P
One of my staff made the cover quickly because we hit a "innovation" wall!

They also made a easy to use admin panel!
I must admit this is is amazing! Since you don't have to leave the page to go to the admin section, makes thing much easier and faster.

What are your opinions on this? Has anyone updated a page which has static FBML/iframe integrated? If so how does it look like?

Also I'm pretty sure people are going to start selling "ad spaces" on the cover images! There are pages with hundreds of thousands of page views which could generate nice traffic from this!

**UPDATE**

All pages will change to this version on March 30th 2012!

Awww, damn it. I have timeline, and this is going to be terrible for organizing business.

i think we are gonna get used to it.
we always accept change slowly. and we ll do it.

It'll just be interesting the effects this has on converting visitors into fans, and engaging those fans. I think the big issue here will be that conversion rate.

Yes I saw it. It seems interesting but I like the current theme to be honest

just looking to set up some pages so I guess it will be easier for me as I was never used to the old fanpages, at least i hope so

Your cover photo is against facebook's T.O.S - No call to actions allowed in cover photo. I took the time to go through the New Facebook Page Tutorial here:
Code:

Not my site but facebook's official pages training site.

I like the new timeline for pages and can see it being much better for businesses using facebook.

Thanks for the heads up.

Oh sorry it's not a video, just a image with the video thumbnail inside.

I hate that you can't have a custom landing tab anymore. I just hate it.
In general I'm okay with the way the new pages look, but it makes offering an incentive for liking the page just soo much harder.
With the old layout I would just use a script that detects if the person is already a fan of the page or not and then display something like "like this page to get your free blablabla", but if you really aren't allowed use the cover for this kind of stuff I think the visitor -> fan conversion will be much lower.

Does anyone already have any ideas on how to replace an incentive offering landing tab?

The only thing you can do is customize your cover image. But also the "highlight" option on posts and the "pin" are pretty decent. I'm sure we'll find a way to make the best of it.

I noticed the preview button appear earlier, I think it looks quite nice personally.

The only thing that puts me off is the two column thing but I'm sure once everyone is used to it we'll be ok. I really dont see the point in the timeline system though.

i dont like timeline at all to be honest. had it for 3 months on my personal profile and i hate it

it would be good WITHOUT two columns ...

the two columns is really what ruins it for me

I already finish the preview of new time line and I can Say It's better for the aps we have a huge space in it.

There is a app service thing that I found doing a search on static html at Facebook, it was named woobox but to use the fangate feature they offer there is a fee starting at $10 a month for one page, and then they have other pricing plans for more pages. I haven't used it yet so can't speak from experience but it may be worth a try as they say it will work with the new facebook features.

This is going to kill off a lot of facebook's usefulness. Basically they want to stop you from using it as a landing page and encourage ad buys.

The lack of a dedicated landing page is the worst part. Time to move on.
