I need to start a forum. Best free Forum to use?

Title says it all really. I want a nice forum but don't really want to buy vBulletin right now. I assume most people think vBulletin is #1?

Go with MyBB. Easy to use, lots of plugins available, SEO friendly.

I can see lots of big forum convert vbulletin to xenforo like DP...xenforo its really awesome if you use free platform then go with phpbb.

i am trying vanilla , seems good till now . very quick to set up , problem is you have to setup new plugins manually via ftp.

Simple Machine forums are also quite good and it's free too. So consider it also while making the decision.
