Looks like it's running fine. I wouldn't be surprised if there was some downtime now and then lately because of these hacker groups DDOSing them constantly. There's been so many threads here in the last couple weeks regarding this.

Working here as well - I think they got taken over a while back by the EIG group which has a history of buying hosting companies and then ruining them into the ground!
Just checked and yes, they are now owned by EIG, make sure you have backups of all sites as they will ruin Hostgator over the next couple of years. Link to other hosts they have taken over: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Endurance_International_Group

From a personal point of view, I prefer a VPS and running my own sites on that. I do it all from command line but you can buy a VPS cPanel license for $15 on top of the price of a VPS.
If you don't want to go that far, where do you want to host, how many sites, budget etc? May be worth a look at somewhere like WebHostingTalk.com and check out their offers section. Make sure you research the companies you are thinking of going with though.

Just great I move from Fatcow to Hostgator only to find they are both owned by the same group. Kick in the head anyway?
hostgator is working fine for me .
this is not true i think. host gator is one of the best hosts right now available.

Just when you said this, the 2 posters below suddenly vouched for hostgator.
And best part? They both have the same joined date (18th August) and this thread was created yesterday (17th August).
