After reading the thread about "if i called you dumb, would you buy" I decided to try a little experiment. I scraped up 3000 email leads, then I created an email campaign using the title "Are you stupid?" I made up a good lie and a fake book, just to see how it would go (didn't really try hard or put alot of thought into it), and it has went surprisingly well so far. So well actually, that I may actually follow through with it and really create the ebook So far I have 144 subscribers. I have got some pretty funny replies though as shown below

While sipping my morning coffee and reading this.. I suddenly dropped the coffee in slow motion and the echo of the broken ceramic cup of coffee, was surrounding my entire room. Right after the sound waves came off, I asked myself, am I stupid? Curious thing was that although our ego will answer something like "no, not even in a million years", this line/question does trigger your attention, more likely an offense although it's just a question. But used in marketing, by selling an e-book of $97, well that should give the buyers the answer straight away after clicking the Confirm button upon pay pal payments. I'd go for the 10k goal and let it be a memorable story xD Who knows, even rinse and repeat.

Actually, the funniest reply I had, I accidentally deleted. The person went off on me real bad and they were very illiterate, but claimed they were not stupid lol. I wish I didnt delete that one lol

I agree with one of the other posters here, if you quit updating this, we will find you...Breaking Bad style. Seriously, this is a fascinating insight into the human psyche. My hunch is that such a provocative question = a high open rate simply because of our inherent need to belong to a group...if it seems like someone is questioning the value we provide (e.g. 'Are you stupid?') to the group, we want to know about it. Now when they open it and discover the question comes from a stranger, well, it loses some of its luster, but still...you got an open and with a good product that isn't total nonsense, it could be a winner. My suggestion is to try taking the edge off the offensive question by putting in the first line of the email, something like: 'Of course you're not stupid! That's why you're trying to win in life...let me show you how, etc...' Just a thought...thanks for the share.

this is a good hustle in my opinion.

I did something similar on myspace with a twist.. I have a id collector.. and then made a scraper to gather a little bit more details about them before sending out messages.. and i'd grab one of their top 8 friends full names.

then send them a message like.

subject: do you know %topfriend ?

msg: hey man.. i figured you'd appreciate this. I found a video of %topfriend shoving a watermelon up their butthole.. it's insanity! %contentlocklink

also collecting ids of people in a relationship and acting like you found a video or photo of their girl online boning some other dude.. but instead of just letting them know.. it was like.

you're a retard bro.. your girl is playin you like a little bitch.. LOL %contentlocklink what a BITCH.

I agree. I actually just made this up and spent the $20 on the marketing campaign just for the hell of it, just as a joke, playing around and testing it. I didn't expect that many stupid people would subscribe lol
