Online seller gets 4 years for rape, murder threats

I stumbled on this article while enjoying my morning cup of coffee and it reminded me of a recent shit list thread there the person accused was making all sorts of threats and nasty comments. It seems he learned from this joker how to run a business:

Hopefully it gives some people a little hesitation before making online threats against customers or businesses. What a price to pay for not having control over your own mouth.

I've read those nasty comments this morning. It's not worth it to do that just for money, this article is a lesson to those people. Thanks for the share OP.
 
When you're running a business, you have certain responsibilities and are liable. So if your used to threatening rape/murder etc on youtube and the ilk anonymously, that attitude shouldn't be translated to your business presence .

Additionally, I definitely need to get into the glasses niche. 18M :O
 
I doubt he was doing 18M lol. But seriously the dude didn't have any business ethics. WTFF.
 
I thought 4 years was harsh for internet threats... but 200 FTC complaints? That's kinda psychotic, even if only half of those are from threats.

His site looks like it's from 2002... 18 mil? The domain is from 2006, so it's possible.

I like how you get that feedback popup when his site loads... yeah, how about you don't rape my family.
 
If i remember correctly this guy was doing all this stuff for backlinks.

His theory ( which actually worked ) was - more he threatens/misbehaves with the customers, the more customers complain and
fill forum boards and other places with backlinks to his site.

The more backlinks he got , higher his ranking.

This was highlighted by some newssite/SEO blog to google and then there was a statement from Matt Cutts about including sentiment analysis of the anchor text/text around link being included
in the ranking factors.
 
If everything goes okay he'll be earning in jail. I hope so. Why take his means of income away. Guy needs meds! :p

Sadly, he was maybe misinformed. If he simply wanted to raise his Google profile, he could have just hired a couple of blackhatters :)

The dumbass pled guilty. If I were on his jury I probably wouldn't have convicted him of anything. Empty & anonymous threats by fictitious identities online are meaningless. And if anyone here disagrees with me, I will rape and then kill them, and cut off their legs.

It is an extremely dangerous thing to have law enforcement attempting to legally connect real-life people with their "fantasy" activities online. Defrauding people out of merchandise is one thing; holding their online speech to the same standard of real-life is something completely different. If a person can't handle the output of the "internet hate machine", they should get the fuck off the internet.
