Can a .org rank as highly as a .com?

Hello,

I read somewhere on this forum that .com ranks higher than .net and .org on google. Which seems very true when I search google to find the top ten results .com

what are your thoughts on this?
should I swap to a .com domain?

It's just that there are more com domains, especially in our business. You'd probably lose more by changing it.
 
Have you heard of wikipedia? ;)
I guess they are .org

The extension really doesn't matter especially between .com .net and .org
The .info domain is getting slap but there is no official proof for this. The TLD really matters when you target a country. .co.uk can work better than .com in google UK, provided all the other factors are equal.
 
I think org get more of google love, people prefer com so you see it rank. org seems authority to me
 
not true... .info is not as good as .com in the first few month because so many spammers use it i think...

also .com .net .org are the best
 
u get the point already ait..it doesn't matter really. i got .info domain which is rank higher..

just work it out..get backlinks using the keyword that u r targeting..not just backlinks..ANCHOR TEXT backlinks..
 
Thanks for clarification on this... I had personally thought that .info didn't rank as well as others. Guess that this is a good thing for my spammy autoblogs
 
Years ago a *.com TLD was better for DNS programming and propogation - but for the internet (seo) it really doesnt matter what type of domain you use.
 
As long as you aren't using a ccTLD (.cc, .cn, .ws, .me etc) you should have no problems ranking. The problem with ccTLD's is that they easily rank in the home country search results, but not so easily in the US search results.
