So, I have never ranked a website in this niche before, this is where I am at 10 days in. Not doing well.... Any suggestions anyone? It's an Amazon Affiliates site.

Do not expect much in just 10 days.

This is a long term run

I wouldnt expect my traffic from Google for an affiliate site. They are all about brands now. Basically you need unique solutions people are having to challenges. Or dont bother with Google SEO.

I know it is, but it's not even a hard keyword to rank in, when should I start expecting it to climb?

The website (in the cooking niche (vaguely)) has recipes on it and reviews of products too, all hand written by yours truly.

You expected to be #1 for everything after 10 days?

Have you even done any SEO yet?

It generally takes 3 to 6 months before an Amazon SEO project comes to full fruition

What rubbish. Unique solutions my backside. :-) You can rank and bank with cheap content quite easily. Google doesn't know the difference between "unique solutions to challenges" and a $3 article written by your friendly overseas Indian writer.

What ranks you on Google is backlinks. The same as it did in 2012, the same as it did in 2008.

Hahaha, I know, I know, yes I have done loads of SEO my friend. But it's such an easy keyword and I expected a little more....

You shouldn't have done loads of SEO in 10 days :p

10 days is REALLY short.

You can rank in 4 to 6 weeks if you're aggressive, but 10 days is tough in 2016.

It's probably not as low comp as you think. SEO is very random. Sometimes even for a low comp keyword we just don't do as well as we think, and other times we end up page 2-3 right off the bat for one that we thought was tougher.

Yeah, I think looking back I have done too much SEO, I think I'll tone it down and get a 3 month plan of slow SEO going...

If you can have backlinks from big sites like forbes and cnn for the keyword (it should be easy to rank) then you can expect jump in few days.
Another way is make this post viral in social media..if you can do that u will be ranked on top

Depends on your anchors. If it's brand/url you'll be fine.

How many did you create and what anchors?

Anything up to 100-200 per day with brand/url anchors is fine. Aggressive, but ok.

Being that it is an amazon Affiliates site it's hard to make a viral post about toasters (not my niche, don't worry, not giving it away)

I was hitting 150 exactly every day.... and it's 50%, 20% random keyword and 30% URL

10 days? I was ranking one high competition keyword for 8 months doing slow SEO. Ranked now and bringing in lots of money :) Just keep at it!

50% keywords (there is 4), 20% random keyword, 30% URL

Oh, that's bad then. keywords are exact anchors.

That means your anchors are:-

"best toasters"
"toaster reviews"
etc

It's possible a lot of your backlinks haven't been indexed yet. With 50% exact anchors it's extremely likely you're going to get a penguin penalty soon and shoot out the top 100.

Start building 100% brand/url backlinks every day for the next month then see where you land.

You have clearly rushed things...these days Google takes time to rank websites especially new ones.
10 days is a short period to start expecting results!!

OP, after ten days I would be happy with those search metrics. Start building links to them, add some more articles and wait.

It took me 10 months to make $100 from one website. Then the following month another $100. Now (a year in) I'm just over $100 a week. Slowly, slowly catch-ee monkey :)
