do not waste money on exotic domain extension

i would never have seen the problems if i had not paid extra to get a .dance domain. so far i have not seen anything good about it, except:

1, apparently now i have to explain that my URL ends with .dance! even apple maps calls me up and tells me my site is down because they insist to add a .com to the end.
2, some sites reject my email address as invalid!
3, youtube does not recognize it as a url. the url in youtube description is not a clickable link!

dont do it!

so how do i fix it? get a .com and 301 redirect? if later i drop the .dance domain, will i lose all the backlinks?

I don't think they will accept a 301 redirected URL as your website address. You can probably directly contact the companies and explain your situation to them.
 
Make .com as your main domain and 301 .dance to your .com site. Thanks for warning. I'll never buy these domains.
 
This problem will resolve itself in the next few months as the fixes to accommodate these new extensions are rolled out. I find sites that won't take ".net" or ".biz" from time to time, this stuff happens, but most gets fixed over time.

This is the worst thing can happend. Try to get .com domain, although I do not think you will find it (if you you took a .dance extension).
Let's wait a few months to see all comply with these new standards.
 
Thanks for the heads up I was planning on staying away from these new extensions anyway just another way for registrars to take more money.
 
They're pretty new, give them some time to be considered domains everywhere.
 
they are not worth much but if google gave them a a green flag they might look good in search results.

I wouldn't buy those fancy extensions because they aren't all that useful. Best solution is to redirect the .DANCE to a .COM and keep the .DANCE for as long as you'll need the .COM so you won't lose your backlinks.
 
I bought a .marketing domain a while back and have had some similar issues. I do no SEO for the site though so if I am reaching out to someone and need the link to be clickable, I just use google's url shortener.
 
The general public is still years out from accepting these kinds of domains. I think in the long run they'll never gain the acceptance as .com's and the only place that these kind of domains serve is when the domains are a "play on words", such as if you had google.dance and a site about Google dance.

Why do you find the need to repeat what others have already said in every fucking thread? Are you that desperate to promote your signature? Are you trying to break a record for most useless posts?
 
All your issues are only temporary. I'd imagine that they'll be fixed within half a year or so.
I myself preregistered a couple of catchy .zone domains which I'm very happy with. Don't see the issue TBH.
