Expired Domain Old Content From Wayback Machine

Hello everyone,

I had a question and I was hoping someone could answer.

I have recently purchased an expired domain that had a lot of good old content before it expired. The content doesn't look copyrighted in any way, it looks like just random blog content that has not been reused. I was wondering if after a I get a hold of that expired domain and I bring it up.

Could I use the way back machine to take all of its old content and put it back on my site with a different theme. Will that still be acceptable in Google's eyes and is there any sort of possible penalty other than the obvious risk that the owner might shoot me an email or claim it is his content.

Extremely unlikely you will get in any trouble. Could take a ton of time to rebuild those pages, but if anything Google will like you for doing that, not penalize you.

Lots of folks rebuild sites that way. If you do it right, the legend has it that folks have made good $$ this way.

Cloan site with waybackdownloader or in my case a nifty scraper.

Drop a CMS like wordpress...

Add internal pages like so... rank those internal pages... win game. It's pretty damn easy.

It all depends on the strength of the old domain.

Most of the time if the site is strong enough the root will juice any new internal pages added if you interlink properly.
Then it's just add content, apply proper on-site...

Let the site get 20-30 pages of content and then let it settle.

Apply more authority/links appropriately and you're golden.

Thats what we are all looking for! As long as it check out in aHrefs or Majestic SEO IMHO should be okay.

I am not sure that is the sort of thing that is being asked for. DomRecovery does this exactly however, recovers content with styles and minus footprints.

P.S this is a crazy old thread, why did you bump it for this?
