Complete SEO for beginners guide

I have been in and out of IM for the last year or so, I have never been too serious. I have enough experience with web design but i'm tired of buying my seo and getting ripped off. My question is does anyone have a complete seo guide, as in actual directions and instructions and not just do xxx blog comments and web 2.0s.
I know general ideas about linkbuilding but i need help with the actual implementing side of it.

As in the previous post, this guide is really good. There aer plenty of paid guides and WSOs, but I haven't found anything that covers a lot of stuff, and it's still valuable information (they get old pretty quickly). For me what it helps is reading the link building section of the forum + g00gle whatever I dont understand
