since last night, a bunch of my sites lost ranking to really old and established sites. the only difference I can think of it my sites are new (2012, 2011) while these are old (2003-2006)

did you guys notice the same thing by any chance? I think they just made the age factor huge.

I noticed a huge shift in rankings yesterday too. All my sites increased to better rankings, old sites and newly created ones so I don't know if age had much to do with it. Mozcast also shows huge activity in the serps http://www.mozcast.com

I don't think domain age is the only factor for those sites ranking above you, they might be high in authority and their backlinks profile may high compared to you. Did you compared all other factors??

I opened just yesterday the same thread

Dont forget that old domains can weather algo changes a little bit better than newer websites thats why you will see quite signigicant changes. But in reality domain ages isn't really important...

Correlation is not causation. I guess it is more about more natural seeming links.
