Quick Question about Duplicate Content.

Let's say I was following a old website, which had some good articles and I saved them. The website went down, and all the pages are long de-indexed from google. It's a year later now, if I was to use those articles on my website now, would that be considered duplicate content by google?

As long as you can't find it in google search.. Then, its alright to use them again

Can anyone with proper knowledge actually confirm if google penalizes your site for duplicate content?

You have to understand what duplicate content is - it's not across websites as much as it is on one website is my thoughts.

Run a check on copyscape.com, if you see nothing don't worry about it, all content should be deindexed me thinks.
