[LESSON LEARNED] Don't Stop After Hitting #1 [CASE STUDY]

So I've learned my lesson.

My EMD domain has dominated my niche keyword for the last 2 years staying at #1 with no SEO work done. Then 4 months ago my site dropped to #10 and I was devastated:

I spent hundreds of dollars on SEO, testing out services including a $300 package (Spam Gone Wild) many of which did not give me any results at all.
After that, I had started to use AMR and submitted articles, and testing out other methods of my own.

January: bought gigs from Fiverr:

This dropped my rank from #2 to #5:

February 1-14th: signed up for a senuke 2 week trial and started blasting the Full Monty.

Mid-February: Collected all of my Fiverr linkwheel links, bought a $35 VPS and started running xrumer 24/7 blasting my linkwheel links.

End result:

I finally hit #2 again, and it will just be some more time before I hit #1!

Conclusion: Don't stop building links after you hit #1.
Also, IMO it's not worth spending $xxx on services for backlinks.
Remember spending $300 a month on SEO = 10 months running a $30 VPS 24/7!!

Yeah, I'm sure there are a few good services that will actually help. However many of them are just a sales pitch.

He's right, stick to some of the known providers here on BHW. They steer you in the right direction.
 
Yeah, if you invest money in the right way, your rank will go up. I bought one service from BHW and my site appeared after one months on #45. It wasn't in the first 1000 before and it is high competitive niche.
 
after you hit #1 you should buy a 1 year drip-feed subscription service that provides a good amount of diversified links every day/week

these usually cost 50$-150$

Also to note, there was a Panda update right around the time your ranking dropped, which was probably the reason for the drop.

Keyword is medium competitive IMO, not too easy to rank
 
A lot of spam links there. How did you manage to get back in serps
 
Of course you can't stop dude! All pro SEO's know this is the golden rule. I make $50000 monthly from my internet sites and I STILL build backlinks and ping each of my sites weekly! It's a must.

I'm blasting 30ish web 2.0 links with xrumer links right now
 
I have to say that using fiverr probably quelled your $300 a month SEO effort. I got lazy 4months ago and played around with fiverr gigs. I spent $30 on the numerous high rated SEO ones, I moved 1 place in the serps. I let it rest to make sure I had no last minute boost, I didn't.

I then put some effort in a used $30 again for drip feeding >80% spun articles and homepage/contextual links. This was 2 weeks ago and i'm already in position 8. With $10 left to spend.

Moral of the story, put some extra effort in and don't look to automate everything. Just my 2 cents.
 
Would creating 20-30 high pr backlinks, and just going nuts building backlinks to them 24/7 for weeks on end have a positive effect?

Say, I'm essentially making those links really powerful with all those other links being pointed to them. Can this improve serps?

That's what I'm doing, but with web 2.0's - you can also test it out with high PR profiles.

I just got Black Hole for a couple of new sites. Blast starts Monday. Maybe I should start a case study?
 
It's funny when people spend $300/400/500 on services, when they can spend $30 on other services and got better results.
