My experiences review of XSServer.eu

I decided to go wtih CSServer.eu as their price of $35 for their WVPS3 package seemed very good. It advertised;

Disk space:90Gb
Traffic: Unmetered
RAM: 1024Mb
IPs: 1
Connection: 100Mbit
Setup time: 1-24 hours

I ordered at 11:00pm on the 16th Jan, and was up and running around 18 hours later, when I received an email.

I connected to the server without any issues using Remote Desktop. My system had server 2003 installed as per my order.

The First Unusual Thing
In my case I was purchasing this to run scrapebox from. So, I went straight to the scrapebox download link. After downloading I intended to run the program, and transfer my license. However what happened was very odd. I run the app, it loaded the ?validating license screen?, and actually validated the license.

How did this happen? Clearly XSServer.eu do not rebuild their virtual servers when customers leave and new ones join. I can only put this down to being lazy, as they appear to be running hyper-v server, and the build process for a new VM can be done in a couple of clicks if configured correctly.

So, I guess the guys at scrapebox need to be made aware of this, as if you fancy a free use of their software XSServer would appear a pretty good place to get one. So if you use them, make sure you clean up your VM!!!

The next task was to test the net connection.

I couldn?t believe the results;
I was getting around 7mbits, not 100!

http://www.speedtest.net/result/1116476550.png

I tried this over a period of hours but the results were always between 5 and 10 (at best).

I tried installing some speed monitor software to test the connection, whilst downloading from Microsoft, cnet and one of my own servers. It confirmed the speedtest.net results to be accurate.

At this point I decided to log a call with their support. I must admit alarm bells were ringing when I tried to use the chat button on their website. They are always OFFLINE. However, I logged a call as follows using their helpdesk function;

---------------------------
I have just received an email informing me that my server is ready.
I have logged onto it....and tested the internet speed.
I am getting 8.7MBPS, not 1000MBPS which was advertised???
Please advise?
---------------------------

To their credit, they came back to me very quickly. With this;

----------------------------
Hello,
The result I got from your vps
http://www.speedtest.net/result/1115748447.png
---------------------------

When I clicked on his link I was amazed. 71.34MBps. From speedtest.net
where I had been testing from myself!!!

I decided to log back on to the server, and try again.

Yet again, I was getting around 5Mbps. The odd thing I noticed however when I logged back onto the server was that their was another connection open by ?Administrator?. I clicked it out of interest, and sure enough could see that the support guy had been logged in, and had received those results from speedtest.net

Now I?m not stupid. I?ve worked in I.T for 13 years, have an MCSE and know and understand networks. I know how traffic is routed with virtual hyper-v servers, and I know how to test speeds.

I did some more testing, and also installed some monitoring tools to gain an average speed.

I logged another call as follows;

------------------------------
I have done several more tests, and have never got anywhere near even 10MBps, let alone 70. I've also left a test going for the past few hours, and I'm getting an average of around 4-5MBps.
Can we look into what the problem could be?
-----------------------------

A few hours later I got this reply;

-----------------------------
Hello,
It can be problem of the speedtest mirror please test other location from speedtest.
-----------------------------

OK, so now I am being treated like a total moron.

As another test I tried 3 more test from LU, DE and UK servers from speedtest.net. Slightly faster results this morning which ranged from 8mbits to 12Mbits. Still useless to me for the purpose I purchased the server, and just about 10% of the 100Mbits service advertised.

As a result I have now logged another call as follows;

--------------------------------
No matter which mirror I use I'm not getting anything close to 100Mb
http://www.speedtest.net/result/1116474187.png
http://www.speedtest.net/result/1116475796.png
http://www.speedtest.net/result/1116476550.png
Out of over 20 tests I've only actually managed even 20Mb once. Somtimes it is even below 5Mb. Its not just the tests, these are the speeds I am getting in practice.
Why is this advertised as 100Mb when it clearly isnt? Please can you process me a refund?
--------------------------------

I have also lodged a claim with paypal for my $35.

I will keep this thread open and update on progress. I will also post a review of my next purchase.....which wont be with XSServer.eu!

Whilst typing my initial reply, they have responded to my ticket;

----------------------------------

Hello,
http://www.speedtest.net/result/1116514461.png

total speed is 101 mbit, I just took from your vps. Sorry but we do not have refund policy on windows vps.

------------------------------

So maybe its you that's causing the problem somehow

Got the best reply so far from them;

------------
Hello,
Our main node is connected with 100mbit dedicated line but it will be shared with other vps as well.

------------

Which is EXACTLY the same as saying I have 1Gbit connection at home. Yes, I have a Gb network card....BUT my broadband connection is 2Mb.

What these ares are running clearly is a Hyper v server (which is free), connected to a 100Mb internet connection. they then stick 10-5 VMs onto the server and let them rip....so your sharing your connection with whoever you happen to be sharing VMs with.

As they clearly dont mention this on any of their sales pages, I consider them to be dishonest to the max!

In my vps server this also happens some times i am with 60 mb others with 10...

But maybe this is normall in all services,i dont think that for this price you will have a 100 mb connection only for you...

It's a $35 vps man.. not a full dedicated server. I never actually check speeds of mine maybe I should start... they got some good plans never the less

I'm getting 69 Mbit, while running XRumer

Anyone mind telling me average links/min on xsservers vps?

For XRumer, you'd be looking at about 220 with a links list 320-400 w/ ZLinks. The real bottle neck is the CPU.

Go with virgin mate and buy a few proxies.

Thanks man,

let us know if you get the connection sorted out.

Cheers

To be honest I dont think there is anything they can do. It will literally be dependant on who else happens to be on the same virtual host server as you are. Looks like mine is full of BHWers!

I've got a SB installed at xsservers and I have never had any problems.
I usually get around 50MBit/s.

how many threads are You doing with XR? Are You using proxy?

Not using a proxy, doing 30 threads.

Like I said, it will be totally dependant on how many people you are sharing the virtual host with, and what those people are doing.

Try requesting to there support that you want to change node. Maybe your node was full of blackhatters.

I dont imagine that they will be able to migrate me onto another node easily....thinking about going dedi.
