So F@%&^*#G Overwhelmed!?

Hello,
I'm not new to IM and have made a few dollars the ole' hard way (White Hat.) Then I stumbled upon this place and feel like I've been hiding under a rock. Talk about work smarter not harder! Doh!

Anyway I became permanently disabled a few years back Crohn's/Colitis etc. and that is what lead me to developing websites and selling online, as I need to work at home.

Not looking for a handout or spoon feeding but I would appreciate some direction/guidance. There seems to be an infinite supply of tools, bots and programs here that with effort could turn decent profits.

Disability pays $1004 a month so startup funds are a little tight!

People are going to tell you to search the forums, which really doesn't help if you don't know where to start. Here's my advice - find a recent thread (Ex. the 300 microniche sites one) and figure out what they're doing and if you might be able to do it. If it doesn't interest you, move on. Another tip - never pay for an ebook or someones "secret method" - I can assure you the information already exists on here somewhere. Tools on the other hand, are costly unless you can find a cracked version that's not infected with viruses (99% are).

If you don't understand something, it's usually much better to PM someone who seems like they know what they're doing and talk one-on-one than to just post new threads or in the thread itself. People are usually a lot nicer when there's nobody to show off to, just don't expect them to tutor you. You have to ask direct questions, not just "How do I make money".

Most of it is crap. Or at the very best, works...just barely. Your job is to figure out who is full of shit and what really works. There is an insane amount of people who are now trying to make money online and we're all scrambling over each others bodies to get to the top.

If a method is hard to pull off and takes a while to do, then I wouldn't be surprised if that tends to work. Why - most human beings don't have the drive and focus to see anything through. Why go through a major pain in the ass method online when they can take the same amount of energy and time at their "real" jobs and make money immediately.

Building often and wide works. (as mentioned in the 300 micro niche sites) It's also hard work and a pain in the ass. Learn all aspects of the trade of Internet Marketing.

Oh, I agree. I was thinking of bots and tools as as a way to automate things more than a shortcut to riches. Like I said I'm old school. The sites I designed and sold were started and marketed from scratch. Sadly I never would have sold them if I didn't have to eat

I would advise you to go to the download section and grab the list control course and start building an email list.

All good marketers build email list.....why? Because it makes them $$$

Build a strong list and develop a good relationship with them and you will be set!

Also, learn to do some of the grunt work type stuff....ie...article writing, link building, cl posting, etc...sell your services and make some quick cash to fund other ventures.

Hope you find some inspiration in this! Just get busy and go do it!

Im in a similar situation to you.

I would say make your own bots, I do use some automation software at the moment but the cost + flaws means im always looking for a better way to do it. Im now playing around with imacro scripting so that i can be way more flexible then what some tool developer decides to make available, if I had any real foundation in proper coding languages like VB or C (or the time to learn those properly at the moment) I would be using those skills to help automate some of the process. Anything that is out in the open market is massively oversaturated. I use SEnuke and Im sure Scrapebox and Xrumer can be cool as well, but they arent neccessary or truly godlike by any stretch of the imagination.

Or if you cant do that outsourcing to reliable manual labor can often be just as cost effective as various software subscription models + one time buys every month or so bla bla. You cant be scared to spend money to make money but there is a lot of bullshit out there and you have got to make sure you are really careful.

If you know how to do Whitehat SEO to the point you actually have made money with it, the best thing you can do is hang around, find out what Blackhat methods there are that can be integrated easily for your particular field of talents to help expand the business models that worked for you in the Whitehat world.

Good luck its still a dog eat dog world out there. But you should be able to do it with enough perserverance.

If you've already made money, why not do what was already working? Whether or not the sites were built white hat or not, you may be able to build another.

Yeah, I know what you mean about overload. It's worse when your feeling the heat when trying to pay bills and stuff and stay afloat. My advice may not apply to you specifically since you are old school but maybe it might help someone. I have found for myself the key is to not spread yourself too thin and waste your time with methods that will just discourage you in the long run. Stick to the tried and true methods of relationship selling to prospects. Everyone wants the money overnight and you can definetly make huge sums everyday, but what's important is not to have that mentality when your trying to sell something. People will pick up on it and move on to someone who gives them what they want. Just like love relationships in that respect.LOL Study traffic methods. All of them and determine what is the RIVER and what are the STREAMS that run from the RIVER.
Anywho, I have an inspirational quote for you from someone a lot smarter than me. "When Heaven's blessings merge with earthly toll you can see and feel the results of your efforts. Your belief and perseverance that will succeed, no matter what the circumstances, makes you powerful in directing your life toward the success you desire." Great question.

When I was doing this before, every time I got a site successful I'd have to sell to pay accumulative bills. I've got nothing against white hat but it's like planting a garden and waiting for the harvest. So I'm kinda looking for a Miracle Grow product or method.

Long term is blogging and if you need cash really fast go into the Social Networking Section of this forum and try out some of there methods. Also did you Check the Making Money section? Most of the stuff there works surprisingly.

As a marketer its important to adjust with the times.

The internet, and the places people spend their time on the internet has changed DRASTICALLY in the past few years.

As of 2010, Facebook and Youtube are great sources of traffic and a effective campaign on any of these sites can make you a good living. The game has changed to some degree and some don't realize that.

Do as little manual work as possible. (This is where bots/content spinners come in) Becoming a marketing pro on these social sites takes tons of trial and error...but once you've "figured it out" it is worth all the time you spent learning.

Here's my free advice, based on feeling the same way you did at first.

Find one or two methods or tools or ideas and really dig into them. Just one or two. Apply them and then refine them with your own twists. If they work, keep them going; if they don't work think about why they didn't and what you can learn from that.

Once you've fully exploited the first 1-2 things, find one or two new ones. Repeat the cycle above. This way you avoid info overload, which I think is a very common problem for people.

Build over time and within a matter of months you can build up a pretty good - and diverse - set of tactics.

Thanks, that's what I'm starting to do now. Gather some low/no cost methods, find what works, rinse & repeat...
