How to use a VPS

I've tried searching in google and watching help videos in youtube but i still don't understand how to run software using a VPS. I want to be able to run Scrapebox and maybe a couple other programs on Host1Free.
All i see is there Console where i can Boot, Reboot and Shutdown. I'm guessing that i somehow have to create a folder and install the software? Do i have to use software like XAMPP or PuTTY?

Does anyone know of a good tutorial?

Hi Dave. A VPS is just like having a computer in front of you but hosted elsewhere. What you need is the IP address of the VPS and then use remote desktop, which is built into windows, and log in to that computer directly. It's then pretty much just looking at another desktop within your computer. It's essentially just taking control of a computer that's stationed somewhere else.

* Host1Free: If you're using free VPS, it's likely to have limited features and may have more downtime than paid for servers, so consider a cheap VPS if/when you have the funds.

ok good this sounds easier then i thought. i opened windows Remote Desktop but i still can't connect
for username i believe i use my email (which is what i was told from Host1free)
but for computer i'm still not sure. i've tried the IP address, i tried members.host1free.com, i tried the nameserver 1 which is ns1.host1free.com but none of them will connect.

and yes before i tried to connect i went to the host1free control panel and clicked Boot

EDIT:
ok the video helps, i see that i put my IP address in, then my username, which is my email address but still not working. maybe i have to allow remote connections to the server?

i even tried my Hostname and my Serial Console username which was console-dwom9C

The user is usually something like administrator

Is it windows or linux VPS?

It's linux. Even if you could get Scrapebox running under wine or something similar somehow, you only have 128MB ram. It's just not suitable.

Ask your hoster to refund and buy Windows VPS.

His host is Host1Free, he mentioned it in the first post and his specs match their first package. So he actually paid nothing for the vps luckily.

alright thanks everyone. looks like it's a waste of time.

ya i was hoping that with this free VPS i could run scrapebox 24/7 and free up my home computer but it looks like it's not happening. i guess if i wanted to do that i'd have to get a better package with a monthly fee.

Better go for a refund or change it to WINDOWS VPS. And also make sure you get a VPS box which meets the minimum requirement to run scrapebox or any software which you plan to use, especially the RAM and BANDWIDTH. Scrapebox will consume a lot of bandwidth.

with host1free's free VPS i didn't have to pay anything. i just signed up and a week later got an email saying i was approved with all the VPS information.

had i been given the option i would have definitely selected a Windows VPS over Linux. But like scrapefox said above, even if i can change it to windows, with 128Mb of ram it probably still won't be enough to run scrapebox.

You wont get anything with such low ram. You need around 512mb to 1gb ram and alot of bandwidth to run scrapebox. Send me your email via pm and I will give you something.

for the amount i use it, i'll just stick to running scrapebox at night on my home PC. it's not worth the hassle of setting up a VPS for how much i use it.

If i was running SeNuke or GSA or something like that 24/7 then maybe i would look into it.

I only spend 15 bucks a month on my VPS and its way more powerful than my home computer

If it is a windows VPS you will need only RDP.
If it is linux you will need putty and then you can install NX to get remote desktop
