Tools for Populating New Forums?

Anyone know which tools still work? In the past I've used Forum Post Robot, Ico-Content and Instadigi. Anyone using those currently and know if they still work? And on what forums?

Also, anyone using WordPress for forums (bbPress, etc)? Know of a way to populate those?

I'm looking for automated tools, not services or fiverr, etc.

When my forum was still pretty new I was so glad that I chose Xenforo over Vbulletin for this very reason.

They have an RSS scraper built into that allows you to grab content from any rss feed and schedule posts and replies.

Other than that I found postloop to be very good (though expensive) for unique content.

I prefer to use postloop as it's a great way to get some unique content for a forum. I usually have some of my workers post on other people's forums so it ends up being free for me!

IPB, Vbulletin, MyBB, phpBB3, SMF all have RSS poster plugins or mods.
I don't see why you'd spend $150+ for a paid forum software just for that reason.

I didn't spend it just for that option. I bought it because Xenforo was created by the former lead developer of Vbulletin and has more features than any of the above mentioned forum software and also because it is cutting edge.

Yeah thanks for that. I just found the SMF RSS poster plugins.

Here's the problem with mybb and smf feed posters.

Both written by the same guy who purposely adds a link back to the original forum post.

I'm guessing his angle is that he can remove that annoying line for a fee.

For those that have populated a forum, will an obvious rss scrape turn off new users?

I like the Xenforo one, but do you want to base a message board that may get popular off a nulled piece of software?

I've seen some people using microworkers. It costs per post but you get unique posts (you can set the conditions for the job).
