A way to find suitable native english rewriters-tip

What criteria are you looking for when trying to hire a rewriter?

English speaking- obviously, but native english standard is preferred.
I had a couple of half decent Indians doing it but their work needed quite a bit of reworking. GAF seems to be full of Indians and a few Phillipinos offering services.

The criteria you really need is:
-Native English speaker, with the ability to read and write at a decent academic level. Ie from US, UK, Canada, Australia, S. Africa
-willing to work for very little (living in 3rd world with a lot of time on their hands)

These people are hard to come by, but a group of people that do fit it are English teachers abroad. Ive lived in Asia for a while and there are tons of people who come here to teach english but the jobs are few and far between, often short term and poorly paid. So any kind of work is sought after.
There are a few main sites that these people look on where TEFL jobs are listed and you can post for english rewriters on there. Try these:

Ok, I'm not a writer (although I'm a native english speaker, from UK) but my wife is a english teacher. We're currently living in Portugal and I think that's a great way to gain side money. what do you mean by "cheap"? Dos 3USD per 300 words article sound cheap enough? I could start that service with here. Thank you for the heads up

no cheap- is hiring people to rewrite 400-500 articles at $1-$1.25.

The maximum one would pay for a rewritten article I believe should be $1.50.

Not trying to be rude but I've bad experience with Indian writers. You'll be better off getting Pinoy writers for the same price. ($1.00-$1.50 per unique 400-500 words articles).

It's pretty easy to get cheap writers. I spammed my ads (offering $1.50/400-500 words article) at most of the job sites in Philippines, and I have since been getting 5-6 resumes a day. It's a lot of work replying, screening and finally getting a group of good writers.

If you need cheap and good writers, try looking for sites that list their local writers/authors. I once found a website that has a nice list of Philippines writers (have published their own books) with their email address. I emailed 20 of them and offered $1.50/article. I thought I won't be getting any response since they must be making a killing with the sales from their books. I WAS DEAD WRONG. (The list could be fake but I doubt so). I was getting 50-60% response rate from the list, willing to take up the offer anytime. It won't be any better getting a group of authors as your personal writers....

i have a cousin in Latin America that is English teacher and chating with him he tell me that will be easy to assign his students to make articles of any topic 3 times a week each one and send them to his email.

Find a English teacher on a 3rd word country and let him check the content, they don't make enough money. In a lot of countrys English is a mandatory credit on high school.

You mean getting the students to do the rewrites? LOL hadnt thought of it in that way. I was thinking more in terms of using the teachers themselves. There is a ton of English teachers all over the world scraping by looking for jobs that pay a pittence, and for the cost of living in most of tefl destinations its not a bad living if they can do 10 in a couple of hours in their spare time.

This site does everything you need in one place - only problem is that it's a hosted service and I really like to have the things I use under my control. If they sold the software I'd buy it in a hart beat.

Anyway, back to the tip.

Using the sites listed in the OP above, what you do is either scrape the email addresses of the people you are interested in contacting, or post a job ad.

The job ad and the email basically say the same thing, the important bit is that the ending is something along the lines of:

What you should be doing is monitoring every step of the process.

If a person emails you back, you make a note of it and just send them an email. Either saying something like:

The job role is such that I need people who pay attention to detail and can follow instructions, my email asked you to go to the link stated - not to contact me.

Or you could just point them to your simplicant(dot)com link.

Keep the job ad and email short (think of it as a two step classified ad process), you'll use your simplicant site for a longer job ad. Also, as you go through the hiring process you reveal more and more of what is required qualifying each applicant at each stage.

You basically create a hiring process which allows you to weed out the flakes and the bums from the people you'll hire.

I also go the route of the Philippines. Your best bet for cheapest rates will be the farther south you head, such as Mindanao.

You have to cycle through a bunch before you find some good writers. Many have real good english ability, but you also need someone motivated.

Had a gorgeous pinay chick writing for me shitloads, but some expat married her. She no longer has to take the A train...

One thing you have to keep in mind when hiring from the Philippines, is power outages and bad internet connectivity.

The ISP's there overload their networks with too many users per uplink.

Also, power is a problem unless your guys and girls have access to a backup generator. The malls and so on do - but homes don't, and if they do - their occupants aren't usually looking for cheap writing work.

The above two issues cause a lot of problems, so forget about hard deadlines, make sure you give yourself a buffer of a couple of days.

I post an ad on CL Guadalajara and Tijuana that are mayor cites in Mexico, searching for English Teacher to summit articles for $1.00 each and I got like 30 answers for two posts.

Guadalajara and Tijuana has large bilingual population since they migrate back and forward to USA.

I don't have a need to get articles since I lived on Guadalajara I know how the the salary is low.

I've also found a college educated Filipino woman on craigslist that can bang out articles that are just about perfect.
