My keyword is too long and won't look good with EMD.
So, I have been thinking if its still cool to use expired domains as money site.
Do it still work in 2017?

Is your answer based on test and confirmation?

Yes it still works really good. If you can find a domain relevant to your niche, that's even more good.

Well it will depend on the expired domain metrics (domain mojo). Although metrics serve as a guideline, the guidelines that I use when picking a good expired domain that has good stats would be
1) TF 25 and above, TF20 seems like an ordinary site though. TF 30 and above would be favorable
2) DA/PA 35 and above - 40 and above would be very good
3) Screen through link profile and if there are .edu, .gov, techcruch, CNN, all those high power links - these are bonuses! Use Ahrefs as additional tool to screen link profile
4) Again make sure no spam links present - can be detected from Moz spam link profile.

still work but take the advise about there stats and cleanliness....

Still works. Ideally you want something niche relevant though, but that part can be adjusted later on. You however need a strong domain with as much RD as possible, don't expect 10RD domains to provide much of a boost.
