Anti-AdBlocker(tm) Instructions

--- What it does ---

As you may be aware, Norton Internet Security 2004 includes a
built in and on-by-default ad blocker. This blocker works by
placing itself between your web browser and the site you are
visiting. It examines the HTML code of the web pages you view
and removes any code that matches anything in its ad block list
before it is displayed in the browser.

The result is that most banner ads, affiliate links, and even
Google Adwords are blocked or rendered inoperational.

Anti-AdBlocker is a software program designed to display your
advertising banners and affiliate link to those web surfers
who have ad blocking turned on in their copy of Norton Internet Security 2004.

Since Norton Internet Security 2004 has a list of servers that
host advertisments, it's important to not list these servers in the
URLs found in your IMG tags. What our program allows you to do is create an
alias URL which points to the original image source. You then replace the original
(blocked) image source URL with your new alias URL in your web page.
Once your page is visited, the alias URL will be activated,
which causes the script to retrieve the original source image behind the scenes
and then send it along to the visitor.

By doing it this way, it appears all graphics on your page are being served
from your own website, and not the advertising server.

This will fix all types of banner advertising problems, with the added benefit
of 'cloaking' your affiliate links. And because the images are re-served
each time they are requested, all impression counting and tracking is maintained.

Here's how this works:

Your banner is located at the following address:
http://www.qksrv.net/click-1369086-9925661

The domain qksrv.net is listed in the NIS2004 block list, so any calls to the link
above would be blocked.

Using our script, you create an alias URL that points to the URL above which looks like:
http://www.yoursite.com/aab/index.php/imgalias

When the page is loaded, the new alias silently and transparently pulls the image
through the alias you created and redelivers it to the requesting browser. Now it appears
that you are hosting all your own images, and assuming your site is not on their block
list and you didn't include a blocked term in your alias name (don't name your alias
'qksrvad1' in other words), you will have no trouble getting through the ad blocker.

Anti-AdBlocker also works with affiliate links

This will fix most types of banner advertising problems, with the added benefit of
'cloaking' your affiliate links. And because the images are re-served each time they are requested,
all impression counting and tracking is maintained.

This works with pretty much all affiliate programs, such as Commission Junction, LinkShare,
Befree, ClickBank, etc. If you're using a lesser known affiliate program, the easiest way
to find out if works for you is to just try it.

---What it currently can't do---

At this time, the script is not able to fix Javascript based advertising systems,
such as Google Adwords, but we have some good ideas and are actively working on the problem.

Also, the script will not work with any system where you don't know what the target URL is,
or if the image link is dynamically generated by software or some other mechanism and chages constantly.

The general rules of thumb are these:

You must know what the address of the banner graphic is.
That address must stay the same all the time.
The banner graphic must be displayed when you place its URL in your browser's address box.

If you can satisfy those requirements, it's a good bet you'll be able to use this script.

--- System Requirememtns ---

To run Anti-AdBlocker(tm), your web host must allow you to host PHP scripts
and have at least PHP 4.2
MySQL databases are supported, but not required.
Currently Anti-AdBlocker(tm) only runs on Unix or Linux based web servers.
Windows server support is planned for the near future.

--- How To Install ---

Anti-AdBlocker(tm) has been designed to be as easy to
install on your server as possible.

The script consists of a single file called index.php which
you upload to a publicly accessible location of your web
server.

For example, if your web site domain is domain.com and you
want your redirects to look like this ...

http://www.domain.com/r/index.php?a=alias

... you would create a directory called 'r' in your root www
directory and upload the file index.php into that directory.

Once you've uploaded the file, simply visit that URL to
complete the setup. The first time you access the script,
you will be presented with a setup page which explains the
configuration process further.

For more detailed instruction see the tutorial.html file included with this download.

--- Where To Get Help ---

If you discover something wrong with the script, or if it
seems to be working incorrectly, please email us at
custservice@se-news.com and describe your problem in
detail. We'll try our best to make it work for you.
