Ok, so I put this up earlier today:

    Code:
    [URL]http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/making-money/542934-6-figures-year-break-down-easier-than-you-think.html[/URL]
?and received a lot of PM?s from people saying that is how they look at it from people saying that when you break it down like that it seems so achievable?but I also got a lot of messages from people that asked for tips on how not to fail. Shit, if I had all of those answers I would be selling WSO?s haha?.kidding, kidding ;)

Anyway, I started thinking. It is midnight here and the clock just turned to ?March 14? ? three years ago today my Dad lost a nasty battle with cancer. It was the hardest day of my life. There isn?t a day that goes by that I do not think about him. He was self employed and worked his ass off ? and he always told me, ?Son, never work for anyone but yourself. Find what you love and turn it into a career. You will be much more happy.?

?but he also told me that it wouldn?t be perfect?he made me fully aware that it would be more work than the 9 ? 5 office jockey working a desk job in corporate America. When the clock strikes 5 on a Friday they are out of there with no worries about the operation?they don?t turn their mind back into ?work mode? until Monday morning at 9am.

As I sit here and reflect on some of the best days of my life with him I wanted to share 5 things that he taught me at an early age and continued to reinforce as I grew up. Hopefully they make sense and can help some people. So, here we go?

#1: YOU ARE GOING TO FAIL. This is unavoidable, and you may fail 3,4,5?.6?or more times before you ?make it? and for this reason 99.9999% of people will give up. They will get knocked down the first time and give up. Then the second failure will weed the numbers down more. Show me someone that failed multiple times but got right back up ? and that is someone that has what it takes to become successful.

#2: DO NOT TAKE ADVICE FROM OTHERS THAT DO NOT HAVE THE SAME MINDSET. Would you take advice from someone who is content working a crappy job for $50k a year? Ever hear, ?you should get a real job? before? Ignore those people. We can?t all be rock stars. The world needs janitors and waiters. Let them be, but never take advice from them or let them influence your dreams.

#3: DON?T BE SCARED! Every amazing idea has started as a dream and vision. Those that were not scared to take chances and risks are the ones that turned their dreams into reality. You don?t stand a chance if you aren?t willing to take a chance. Life is too short to waste time. If you want something, go after it. Now. Not tomorrow, not the next day.

#4: SURROUND YOURSELF WITH WINNERS. If you have negative people in your life get rid of them. Right now. They are hurting you in many ways. Surround yourself with successful people and you too will become successful. Don?t be afraid to cut ties and sever relationships. It is for your own benefit.

#5: UNDERSTAND IT IS NOT GOING TO BE EASY. Nothing is easy and it is going to be hard. Very freaking hard. You will have sleepless nights. You will work weekends. People see the guy driving a Lambo and say that they want that life BUT they aren?t willing to do what he did to get there. The sacrifices. The chances. If they knew what he endured to ?make it? the average person would instantly not want that lifestyle.

My dad emphasized these 5 points to me all the time and I will never forget them.

    RIP Dad ? Miss you.

For point #1 in many countries/cultures there's "no room" for failure - it's not seen as a way to find something that doesn't work, but instead as just sucking in life - and thus most people give up so easily and go back to the more "secure" ways of life.

Surround yourself with winners... I've heard that multiple times before and I've always tried to do so. However, it seems like every single skype group I've ever joined eventually dies off :/ It may be active for a few months, then people simply stop communicating or the communication is reduced to gibberish chitchat instead of IM. Have you faced this issue? What's the solution?

Hope you can use some of the info and glad you like it!

The "safe" bet won't always make one happy. Life is so short, do what makes you happy!

    Lol appreciate it :)

Think outside of "Skype" - there are successful people in your area - not just IM people. Any business owner. Find local entrepreneur groups, etc. you need real world interaction.

I have to say, this is a good post, but I can't really agree with #2. Usually, those janitors and waiters that are stuck in that spot can give so much insight into the world, especially if they're old. You just can't neglect everyone like that. Sure, they may not have the same mindset, but you never know, they just might have some gems of wisdom in their head...

I think you are misunderstanding - not saying don't talk or associate with them. Some of my best friends are mechanics, landscapers, etc - but I wouldn't take business advice from them.

I agree about surrounding yourself with winners. Research has found that if you have fat friends, there is a 40% chance that you will be/become fat. They've found that it's NOT that they hang out at Dunkin Dounts, but that what we see becomes the norm. The point is hangout with whom you want to be, if best you can find is people trying really hard to get ahead, then lead them. If you can find successful people to hangout with, then do that. I run 3 business groups that meet on a regular basis and the people in them are more successful than me.

If you need help pm, I agree skype groups, does not work for me either. There needs to be more of a buy-in and social responsibility. IMHO

Another awesome thread by netmoney1. Keep up the great works since such threads are great for the newbies as they motivate them and continue their IM journeys and eventually succeed.

Yeah, while skype groups are good for some things there is nothing like meeting up with a group of like minded people for happy hour on a Fri night or Sat morning coffee. That is where the real ideas are developed.

Great advices from your dad netmoney1, and thanks for posting them! I hope my parents planted mindset like this when I was young, re-writting your already set up 9-5 shitty values is very hard, but I'm willing to do it.

All it takes is deciding that you are going to make it happen and going everything possible to reach your goals. Good luck!

Thank you, glad you found it useful!
