Is there something wrong with amazon. I just tried selling things recently on amazon and they sold.

But like everyone talks about selling things on ebay when their fees are so much higher than amazon fees and their policy is very strict. Everything thats profitable to sell on ebay is VeRo'd. So why aren't people selling more on amazon? Things sell for a higher price on Amazon also compared to ebay. And best part is you don't even need paypal..

Amazon is really good because once you get them to the site, you profit from all the sales made.

I cannot use Amazon since the rules were changed about taxes for some of the states, I am in one of the states where my account was stripped.

They are trying to get that changed back, but I don't see that happening.

I think a lot of people think 4% is crappy but I don't think they realize most don't just buy one thing.

Tell me if I am wrong, but arent you limited to selling things already in their directory of products?

I think this is how it works - whenever people visit your amazon affiliate site, they get the affiliate cookie that lasts for an hour. Whatever they buy from amazon with your cookie, you get 4% commission for everything.

Amazon has a huge database of products to be sold, but 4% is horrible IMHO.

I created an Android Tablet site in 2010, and in early 2011 I started to put up Amazon products. I sold 7 in the first month and profited $56. Absolutely horrible...

I hooked up with a wholesaler and sold 7 the next month. With my mark up I profited $289. Next month I kept with the wholesaler, and doubled sales... till I hit about 15-20 tablets per month, then flipped it back to the wholesaler.

My experience... was bad. Yea.. $56/mo is ok, but it just wasn't worth my time.

Did anyone actually read the original post? He's asking about selling on Amazon, but everyone's talking about the affiliate program? :y:

Anyway, I have no idea why more people sell on eBay than Amazon when eBay is clearly inferior in every way imaginable.

I was about to share another friends experience with amazon but then it might be off topic but anyway, I think we are all individuals who has the right to choose what really served us better than the other service provider.

Does anyone have success stories on amazon? Are you able to sell products you created yourself?

There have been some threads about selling on Amazon. Here are the downsides to selling on Amazon:

    1) Amazon has a policy of putting your seller's account on hold if you accelerate your sales too quickly. They do a 30 day review and hold your money during the review period. That puts off a lot of people.

    2) Restrictions on selling in certain categories. They are not looking for any more sellers in apparel where in ebay any newb can jump right in.

    3) Amazon's prices in high paying niches (electronics/computers/laptops) are quite competitive so finding lower prices items to sell will be difficult if you are one of the MANY dropshippers who cannot imagine there is money to be made outside of electronics.

Other than those, you're right, things sell easily, you get high prices, and there are less sellers so you can make some good coin there.

My friend loves Amazon maybe a little too much. I used it a few times and I find it rather simple to navigate. She says she gets free shipping on a lot of items. I believe it's due to the fact she buys so much stuff. I purchased a vacuum and it took 3 days to arrive.

I have also noticed not many people don't talk about Amazon as much anymore. May be economy related. Also, I now prefer shopping through sites specific to the product I am buying. There are more site online now than when Amazon was booming.

I would before look for the best price and certain computer accesories and parts on Amazon and purchase there. Now I go to TD or NewEgg just to name a few. I found I can get a better deal going that route versus Amazon. The specific sites often have specials, discounts, free shipping on certain items etc.

Amazon just isn't as user friendly as eBay (not really my opinion, just what I understand from listening to others)

Most people have made a purchase from eBay before they have from Amazon

You can't just go on Amazon and start selling a bunch of replica shit, they have actual people that go through the items you are selling to determine how much of a risk you are.

Amazon wants businesses selling, not people. eBay attracts people trying to sell an item to make a quick buck, Amazon is not like this.

Problem is not you don't sell, problem is you sell and make tiny proffit. 4% on electronics, up to 8.5% on other categories. I do have amazon affiliate sites but you won't get rich with them.

If you get your Amazon seller account banned it is much harder to get a new one and stay
undetected then it is for ebay. It can still be done though.

Depending on what you are selling, Amazon can bring in lots of sales and at good prices...

I think more people don't sell on Amazon because they don't even realize you can.

Amazon is big and is still growing to this day. Just take a look at the trends and traffic.
Amazon is trying to take over walmart.

I always heard that amazon put accounts on hold quickly, that items never sold on amazon etc, so that is why I never sold on amazon.

One day I decided to try it and my item sold just as fast as it did on ebay, since that day I never looked back.. Whenever I have any type of problem I call CS and they resolve whatever it is right away. It is great not having do deal with paypal!

Amazon is great don't believe all the bs!

The niches I am in are absolutely dominated... to actually get my products in there and have them seen by customers would be next to impossible. Those products have hundreds of reviews, I would need to do A TON of work just to get them noticed.

amazon is OK but it is a pain to set up if your account is going to be banned after a few sales.
