If the backlinking profile you've done can seem legit, this is one the rare case i would use the disavow tool.

ahrefs.com can help you to analyze the links

Why would this be the 'one rare case' you would use the disallow tool? Can using/installing the disallow tool have negative consequences?

The below guy can give very good baclink reports.. Good luck!

Watch the video that Abdullah posted, it explains how to use the google disavow tool to ignore links. Find the links using the ahrefs tool or something along those lines. Contact google as well and let them know you have had a spam of links sent to your website. Hope this helps.

Along with Ahrefs, you can also use Majestic SEO to find out the links.

It involves me and just my personal belief but i wouldn't play much with this tool for a couple of reasons.
First, if you aren't penalized do not hope to sculpt your backlink profile as using it involves a confession that you have been bad. Double think twice before using it and be sure it is a penalty rather than a link devaluation or some deindexed website.

Also, i wonder if you disavow your links, if it is going to disavow all the OBL of the page / domain if recurring. In case of blog comments for instance, it might not be good for your neighboors ;).

I strongly recommend you start building some amazing, whitehat links. Invest a lot of time into it. Eventually you will get your rankings back.

Some types of links that will help you:
    1. Guest posts - go for brilliant blogs with good credibility
    2. Resource links of other sites - NOT link exchanges
    3. Press releases - only if you have news-worthy content
    4. Review sites - Not shitty spammy sites. Genuine sites.
    5. Create apps (iOS, Android, Chrome, Firefox) for your site - Promote the shit of them

Yes this will take time (and money) but will help you in the ling run. Trust me.

What type of sector was your site in? That type of behavior is very rare in most industries. Keep us posted on how you handle this and if it works.

You need to analyse your links for a start...at the moment it appears you are speculating. I think even with a free Ahrefs account you should be able to see enough info like a spike in new links etc.

Ive never used the disavow tool and dont plan to but if I had been hit with a massive blast of pron/pharma links then I would have to consider it an option

Matt Cutts is such an ass... What a speech! How about you just make it so that links cant hurt a site. Jackass. That would solve the entire problem. The reason why Google has created the disavow tool is so that they can track links. Everyone thinks that Google is all knowing but the fact is, they aren't as good at their job as most think they are. All of this phishing is proof of that. The fact that I can still rank 1 page sites with spun content is also proof. I would not recommend using any Google website tools, ever!

I am sorry that this happened to you. I would just wait it out and see what happens.

Well said! Also I remember seeing a video where that idiot said "negative SEO" would not be a result of the algorithm updates.

We can commonly see he is full of shit.

    Cheers

How many links are we talking about here and have your rankings actually been effected?

If it's a dozen or so porn links on a big link profile, then it's definitely not going to be the reason for any rankings drop.

I understand the want to be proactive, but if it's just a few porn links sent to your site, then I wouldn't do anything. Negative SEO doesn't work like that.
