Not sure if this has been posted here yet but thought I would share....

If you suddenly see some of your backlinks "disappearing" and your rankings plummeting ... then this may be the reason why:

Not sure if Dave should of shared this on his blog because this is another nasty and crafty way of performing Neg SEO. Not as harmful as blasting 1000's of spammy links, but still a dirty tactic nonetheless...

Are we ever going to be safe from Neg SEO? Or is going to become easier and easier to perform Neg SEO. I give it a few weeks before this tactic is "automated" :/

Totally learned a lot from the link that you have shared. Thank you for sharing. Now, I know one of the many reasons why my backlinks are disappearing.

neg SEO is a so - so strategy, in a niche i think it can be very profitable.
Doing it to blast anyone aroun a website is a waste of time.

There have been bots created for this sole purpose floating around for a while. The poorly coded bots have hit one of my sites that has no links to external sites. lol

Google gathered every webmaster together for a big circle jerk. Legitimate and illegitimate link removal requests, when acted upon, make search engines even stronger by eliminating referral links. This, I believe, is part of Google's broader war on webmasters. Seen as the competition by Google, webmasters linking to one another reduces the chances that people will find what they are looking for outside of search. Any respected government agency could look deeper into this and draw their own conclusions. But when you have the NSA and Google sleeping in the same bed and sharing data, expect this cozy relationship to give them a free pass to steamroll anyone that gets in their way.

If the government won't break Google up and prevent them from expanding their monopoly by allowing them to buy even more companies, then politicians should close the FTC. The FTC is a poor excuse for an agency assigned the responsibilities to ensure a fair marketplace. The lazy asses over at the FTC must just be their to collect a paycheck and to sit on their asses all day long. Besides padding their pensions and getting inflamed hemorrhoids, I don't know what else FTC employees really accomplish.

This could easily backfire if someone forwards the email to the legit site owner.
