From my last post, I have gotten an unreal amount of messages about people wanting to know how to build Tumblr accounts or just simple make some money on Tumblr. It's fairly simple, if you're dedicated on either or both things. I've been using Tumblr for a little over 2 years and have found it to be a good money maker.

Here is some tips for both to make money and to build accounts.

First things first, you want to pick a good url/username to have your blog named. I prefer something with just letters nothing like (age.loves, itssomething123, etc).

If you're wanting to make it look professional, you can buy yourself a domain name which I always do. And then, you can use it on Tumblr so instead of your url being _____. tumblr .com it will be ____ . com I purchase my domain names from GoDaddy.

The next thing on the list is you want to throw a theme (aka layout) on your blog. I prefer to make my own, so I know it's up to my specifics. There are many places that you can find free tumblr themes, including some right on Tumblr. Try not to use one that is too cluttered. I also don't like seeing the same theme on everyone's page. So try to find one that you don't see everywhere or just make your own. It's simple. When people view your page, they would rather they see something they've never seen and that looks cool, than a blog that looks like everyone else's. If you would like to see some examples of mine, just contact me & I can show you.

After you get your theme up, you want to start putting posts up. I prefer to post my own photos (not personally mine, but maybe pictures I find on sites like WeHeartIt.com or such). When someone sees a photo, you have more of a chance of them checking out your blog, if they see someone reblogged it from you, plus your name is also in the click-through link. It puts your link out there in multiple places. Now, once you hit the daily limit of uploading/posting photos, you can re-blog if you wish. I do, it usually happens at the end of the day or so I run out of uploads.

When posting the photos, make sure you use tags. Tags in your niche, popular tags, etc. This will help people reblog your photos, find your blog, and check your blog out. This is a big traffic inflow.

Try to stay in one niche, don't just put up a bunch of random pictures that don't go together. Each one of my blogs, is for one purpose. You could do an adult blog, food blog, etc.

    STAY ACTIVE.
How you do this is called a "queue" you put pictures in this queue and choose when your photos post and how often. My blogs run 24/7. I always keep my queue full at all times. People want to follow an active blog, if it isn't people won't check your blog out or will just un-follow you.

Another way to get your name out there is send other blogs, "asks" aka messages. Tell them that you like their blog and ask them if they'll check out your blog. Not only will they check your blog out, but most likely they will publicly post the message & all their followers will then see the message & are likely to check out your blog.

Some people like to follow every blog that follows them, I personally do not do it. But you can do it if you wish. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It's your choice.

There are larger blogs that you'll find that will advertise your blog, either posting your link to their page/dashboard telling people to follow you or they will post a permanent link to your blog on their theme for people to follow you. This will cost you money.

Now on to making some $$$, there are two ways to make money on Tumblr that are the most effective. The first, is to put up advertisements. For that I have always used AdSense. I put the ads on all my blogs. But don't go and plaster your blog with a bunch of ads that don't fit and make your blog look really tacky. Put them in places that don't look like an eye sore. Such as in headers, your sidebar, etc. If you would like to check out my blogs, again contact me so you can see where my advertisements are placed.

The next way to make money is with "sponsored links". There a few websites that offer this, if you would like to know some specifics about these websites, contact me. What you do is you choose a link that they have listed, you post it on your blog. It posts on your blog & dashboard. Then, you get paid for each click that you receive on the link. You can also post the link on Facebook, Twitter, or YouTube. I usually just use them to post on my Twitter & Tumblr accounts. The best part about this way, is that they pay every Friday at 2 P.M. via PayPal. Makes it nice to earn quick cash.

Between the two different ways to make money, I say Adsense brings in about 60% of my revenue and the sponsored links bring in the other 40%.

I know there are many other ways to probably earn money or earn followers. But this is the right way, that you can't be deleted from Tumblr. They are constantly changing their "rules" and if they find your blog one bit fishy (using bots, etc) they will not hesitate to delete your blog or ban you completely. All these ways have worked for me and have worked for the people I have coached in building accounts with no problems.

You don't have problems with Adsense about promoting them on Tumblr?
Do you use this strategy only on one blog or you have alot?
Do you own adult blogs on this strategy?

Never had problems with adsense, I own 6 blogs and they all have adsense on them currently. Some have ran adsense for 2 years now with no problems. I use this strategy on all my blogs that I have ever owned. I own 1 adult blog on this strategy.

If I could ask you - what's your traffic? The amount you mentioned above is pretty big, so the traffic must be in thousands a day?

Unique visitors for each blog is a minimum of 1k a day. The top amount I am getting for my most popular blog, is 9,000 uniques daily for the one blog.

Did you gain followers naturally by being active and waiting for them to follow you, or did you use the help of third party websites? How many followers do you have?

Thanks Amanda for this amazing method.

I like this, it seems easily automated and outsourced. Also very scalable. Best of all, no writing or SEO involved.

How do you drive traffic to your blogs? Just through tumblr tags and links from other bloggers?

I think it's now at 100-150 for uploading your own photos per day. I have my queue posting every 30 minutes all night/day and have never hit the limit. For posting any pictures (reblog, etc) I think it's 500.

I've gained all my followers naturally. No bots, no bought traffic, etc. My biggest blog gets anywhere from 500-1,000 new followers a day. My biggest blog I have is at 190,000 followers.

My traffic comes from Tumblr itself - tags, dashboard, etc and from Google Search brings in quite a bit.

How many followers do your high earning blogs have? I'd assume around 2,000?
