Here's a chance for everyone to contribute.

What lessons have you learned from your IM so far and what journey are you on now?

    I'll go first.

    • I learned that you must curb your wide interests and not register 100 or 200 domains because there's a site that you'd like to make one day. Pick one niche, ideally on something you are passionate about and can produce content for easily without much research. Do not stray from the niche unless it makes you zero money.
    • Use tracking and check your stats. It took me 3 or 4 years to check my Clickbank Analytics. Instantly I made more money when I saw where my conversions were coming from and decided to change strategy.
    • If a site is not making you more than $1,000 a year and/or is not contributing to the direction you want to go in, ditch it when domain renewal time comes up. You don't need the distraction.
    • See where you are making the most money. Don't be afraid to pile in and focus 100% of your efforts there.
    • Think "career" or "real business". Many black hat and even some white hat methods are like crash and burn and won't make money forever. Only do them if you can raise a lot of cash from them. Don't rely on them to make minimum wage. Remember, all your time spent on activities that will eventually crash and burn is time you could have spent on your long term projects.
    • White hat is the only long term prospect.
    • Don't get lazy until you're making more than your friends. Work 8 hour days like everyone else until you get to this level.
    • If you're not working full 8 hour days because you're not focused on a goal, go back to working in the real world until you do.

      Where am I going?

    • I've gotten rid of the crap around my neck.
    • No more crappy YouTube videos.
    • Focusing on a single product and making it the best in its niche.
    • Hiring affiliates. Done it well in the past and why did I ever leave it? Seriously, forget about Matt Cutts. When you own a product, it ain't your problem no more.
    • Giving up on list building for the most part. For 90% of pros it is great. But I just can't do it well. I will return to it when I can outsource it to someone who knows what they are doing (expensive!)
    • Will get back into PPC in the long term. Right now I suck at it but it's something very important.

What about you? What have you learned and where are you going?

    • Thanks Thanks x 2

    What I learned is

'Tis a lesson you should heed:
    Try, try, try again.
If at first you don't succeed,
    Try, try, try again

    Personally;

    Stop reading and take action
Dont be scared to task monetary risks.
Make sure you learn from your failures. I find if something failed its because I was going about it wrong not because the 'method' sucked.
    Stay focused.

Most important remember to spend time with your friends and family. its very easy to get sucked into a project and cut yourself off! work the normal working hours and then do something else.
