Hello, like the title says, I was banned. My eBay account and Paypal account are both verified and it was my real, legit eBay account (actually my only eBay account). I tried to sell my first item last night (a video game book that normally sells for about $70 - $100) but was banned - MC999. I called eBay this morning and they told me that the account is not eligible for reinstatement and that they cannot tell me the exact reason I was banned. I just "posed a significant risk to the community". WTF??

So now, where do I go from here? I don't want this misstep to stop me from making money on eBay, so can anyone offer help or advice for this newbie? Thanks!

F**K them, they are a joke, they could not care less about the people who make money for them, they are the worst form of business. I quite appreciate them, because if they had not forced me into IM I would not be making the money I do and still be getting irritated by them once every couple of months. I would not want to make Ebay / Paypal one penny, I stay well clear of them.

Trust me, once you are on the eBay/PayPal black list there is nothing you can do to fix it. Stealth accounts, business accounts or partners are the only options.

I can almost guarantee they will never reinstate your account and will ban any account linked to your old one.

    Tip. Move on.

Was there anything dodgy happening with the content of the book?

Was it a physical book or an eBook?

Do you have a good selling history?

Were any "tricks" used in the way that you advertised the product.

That's pretty tough to hear. Especially since I thought this would be a great way to earn a few dollars. So unless I get a stealth or business account, I should just give up entirely on eBay, correct?

No, there was nothing fishy about the book. It's a real, physical book. Also, this was the first item I tried to sell on eBay. I guess the only trick I used was to copy verbatim, the title of another auction for the same item. Other than that, I have no other knowledge of eBay listing tricks, etc. All the other information in the description was accurate and nothing deceptive was added.

You can always sell through someone else who has an ebay account and paypal.

I helped a few friends and "businesses" sell their products with my accounts before I just got up and left ebay.

I really hate what that site became.

So it seems like everyone agrees that abondoning ship is the best method. Are there better sites that I can use to sell products (aside from setting up my own website and store)? Is Amazon a viable method? If so, I live in Japan, so would it be a problem running an Amazon store on the U.S. site while being based in Japan?

Stealth accounts will be good option..
And make sure you account old enough to start sell
