    ~*Summer/Spring Method*~

I'm going to make this as short as possible, this method is not for everyone but if you are capable and strong enough mentally and physically you can really make A LOT of money.

    Lawn Aeration:
Buy a really high quality Core Aerator, I bought one for $3,599.99

Ryan Aerator Lawnaire V 544910 Honda
(The Ryan Lawnaire V Aerator has an aerating width of 26.5 inches and an aerating pattern of 3.75 inches by 7 inches. The Lawnaire V boast a 2.75inch coring depth. It features a 4hp Honda Engine)

    The Method:
    1) Go door by door offering lawn aeration.
    2) Charge no less than a minimal of $35.00 for front/back (I've charged up to $70.00 per front/back, which is $140.00 per property. You should be able to estimate how much you want to price.
    3) Move on to the next door, try and link houses, ask the home owner, do you know anyone else that would be interested in aeration?

    My Pitch:
Hi, my name is ____ I'm doing lawn aeration for this neighborhood, are you familiar with the service?

    Hrmm, no.

Well, lawn aeration is a fantastic way to keep your grass healthy, lush and green throughout the year, I just need to know which way is to your backyard, is it to the left or to the right?

    (This prevents them from
    Uhmm, to the right.

Okay, so you go run check it out, (keep a smile on your face), what I can do is $50.00 for the front and $50 dollars for the back - Don't say bucks, sound less professional.

Now.. you may get a lot of rejections at the start, maybe a few sales, I got 6 on my first day, made around $600.00 worked at 11 AM - 8 PM. I had my friend come drop me off and pick me up in different neighbourhoods in his truck to drop of the aerator.

    2 Weeks later, I have around $13 000.

Here are the Top 10 Reasons to Aerate, you Can Improvise in Your Pitch
    10. Thatch is Broken Up: Your lawn is continually building up a thick layer of surface thatch which prevents the uptake of water, oxygen and fertilizer. An annual mechanical core aeration effectively eliminates this problem by breaking up the thatch barrier while the soil cores lift micro-organisms to the surface which speed up the decomposition of the remaining thatch.

    9. Compaction is Relieved: Aeration is the only proven method for relieving topsoil compaction. Hard, compacted soil will result in pooling of water, insufficient transfer of oxygen and nutrients and deminished microbial activity. An aeration can be likened to tilling garden soil in preparation for new planting.

    8. Free Top Dressing: The aeration process leaves thousands of soil cores sitting on the surface of your lawn essentially giving you a top dressing. The cores will dissolve back into your lawn during the next rainfall but, in the meanwhile, they will help preserve moisture in the turf.

    7. Drought Protection: Hard, compacted soil leads to a shallow root system. Aeration promotes deep root growth which gives your lawn greater drought tolerance during the summer.

    6. Water Savings: Compacted lawns with thatch build-up become hydrophobic! These lawns repel water no matter how much you water them. With an aeration, your watering efforts will not be in vain and you will save money in the process!

    5. Weed Resistance: Aeration allows water, oxygen and nutrients to reach the root level promoting new growth. The new turf growth will fill in the lawn and thereby crowd out weeds attempting to spread.

    4. Insect Resistance: Insects thrive in thick thatch build-up. As the aerator punches thousands of holes into the thatch layer, it breaks down the ideal environment for insect infestations.

    3. Increases Fertilizer Uptake: In addition to promoting water and oxygen transfer to the root system, aeration will also enhance the uptake of fertilizer where it's needed: at the root level. Get maximum return from your fertilizer investment by aerating in the spring and fall.

    2. New Turf Growth: A steady introduction of healthy, new lawn shoots each year will keep your lawn vibrant and resistant to harmful weeds and insects. However, these new lawn shoots require room to grow. The thousands of small openings created by the aeration provide just what your lawn needs.

    1. Increases Property Value: Some Realtors say that the look and health of your lawn speaks a lot about how you care for your house. A property with a thick, beautiful green lawn will sell for up to 10% higher than the identical house with a weedy, brown lawn in the heat of summer. Get full recognition for the value of your home - aerate your lawn!

That's pretty much it, it's simple and it's easy to get used too. Anyone can do it! Amazing time to get started - Summer/Spring

Great writeup! If you can invest initially, it'll pay off. The great thing is, most people do not aerate their lawns but know of it. If you are able to pitch the top 10 reasons professionally, you will be able to profit big!

Thanks, especially when you show up at their door step with a 200 pound machine. I kept a backpack with me with food, water bottles so I never had to take pit stops. The money accumulates well, I made up to 27 sales one day.

    Earnings: 3000.00$ +

Takes me around 10 minutes per lawn, just jog it, have a smile on your face and the home owner would be glad to hand over the money. 10 Minutes for $70.00, easy.

As you get more experienced charge more

Really great method...in most climates. Doesn't go over well in areas that don't have lawns ;)

This is a great way of getting some reccuring clients and if you're good the word of mouth will spread your service :)
After that make a company and offer your service to not only clients but some big companies. :)
    Big profits right there :)

I wouldn't suggest charging $70 per yard to start off. If you're new go max $40 for one, $60 for front & back. Make deals that will make people get both yards done. Chances are if they want one, they'll want the other. A random homeowner isn't going to drop $140 on a random door to door service. I'd expect the most success at $60 a house. Hell, drop the price of the machine and that will definitely persuade a homeowner to buy the service.

Yeah, start small 30-35$ per front/back, or 60-70$ per property

    Very well written!

I have never heard of "Lawn aeration."

Besides fuel(and equipment), what other operating costs do you have?

I was intrigued by this method but after doing some research on this type of work...I am calling BS.

10 minutes? NO way in hell is he doing any yard jogging or not.

Certainly BS that he could do it in 10 minutes, but the method is still solid. The biggest problem is that Aeration is seasonal. You'll make ~$25k per season (two per year, Spring / Fall) and that's if you aren't in an area of high competition.

The nice thing about Aeration is that you can scale it up, but then you're talking about a whole business model...employees (or subs), insurance, yada yada, and who wants more headaches in life? :baby09:
