How long does it take them to update the hosting IP address after you change the host?
When you change name servers, it will take up to 24 hours, but usually just few hours.
Nameserver info was updated within a few hours, but host IP has been the same for a week now.
whois info doesn't normally contain the IP of the domain. That's why the nameservers are there, so you can query the relevant nameservers and find out the IP address to point your requests to.
If you're talking about the IP address that's returned by the unix `host` command, then that's dependent on the particular DNS server you're querying. Most DNS servers cache results for a certain length of time (configured by the server administrator) and it can take a while for them to update their cache for a particular domain. Many ISP DNS servers have relatively lengthy cache times.
Edit: nevermind, I just realized you're talking about the site who.is and not the output of the whois command...
Who.is just takes 2 minutes to update your infos. Once you change the nameservers, you can go to who.is, and it already be updated there. Or if its not, you can click the update button every 2 mins. Its damn quick.
i saw mine update in a few minutes when i changed nameservers recently.
