I know you can buy things through your own affiliate links for a lot of networks like Clickbank and what not, but does Amazon allow this? I haven't seen this being discussed much anywhere so I wasn't sure.

How would I do that though? When Amazon ships the items, won't they see that it matches up with the affiliate account I have with them?

Yeah that's a good idea...I'll just do that.

I know a lot of networks don't care, but I just wasn't sure how a company like Amazon would handle it.

Just order it under another name. If they say something about it, just tell them that it probably happened cause you clicked your affiliate link earlier that day, so you bought something in the 24h.

    Amazon's policy

What is Amazon's policy for Associates placing orders for themselves?

You may not purchase products during sessions initiated through your own Associates links and will not receive referral fees for such orders. This includes orders for customers, orders on behalf of customers, and orders for products to be used by you, your friends, your relatives, or your associates in any manner.

It's probably not worth earning a little affiliate fee and risking getting banned by Amazon...

Just to update everyone, I've bought quite a few items through my own affiliate link since opening this thread last year and I haven't had any problems yet. Not to say I won't, but so far I'm good and have gotten my advertising fees and everything.

What I do is just use my mom's name and Amazon account when I order the items. That way if they look, it's under her name and not mine.

I accidentally purchased through my own link a few months back. It showed the purchase, but I didn't get any commission. I sent an email and they said no harm, no foul.

I personally don't want to risk it. I had a seller account banned a few years back (I was moving and forgot to ship some stuff), and I've tried to make two new accounts, both under different names, addresses and IPs, and they were both banned.

Just kind of gives me an impression that they know how to spot stuff a mile away. I'll pass on the 4% commission.

Don't let amazon know that you are buying through your friend's amazon affiliate link. I have asked my friends to go to my blog through google. They will order products by that way so that amazon will not have any suspicion on me. I even make my friends to order products which are needed for me so that I get extra discount.

It is against their ToS but you can get round it by using a friends link and they share the commission with you.
Or just have a separate account for purchases.

Yaeh, but the problem is, what if they see that my friend have 50 sales, all from the same IP.
